I have the digital files WB provides for everyone who bought the physical sets. Redeem the code and you get MP3s and Visions is not clipped. Visions is also no longer clipped on Spotify.

Everyone who bought the physical sets gets a code to download the mp3s? I wasn't aware of that? Is that only if you buy directly from WB? I bought a physical set from Amazon but didn't get a code. Or does the code only come with the vinyl set (I bought the CDs)?

I think vinyl only. My CD set doesnt have the code. They figure you can just rip it I guess.

I guess it's vinyl only. I tossed the card after I downloaded the files and used the 20% coupon. Same as what we got with the vinyl set for 1999 SDE.

I'm not buying that the live show is "slow". I've matched many of the notes on my tuned guitar but happy to see if someone can prove otherwise. Sounds fine to me. I'm not sure how this would even happen unless its some kind of 50Hz vs 60hz thing but I think that would go the other way.

How is Wally's warble not on the list?

I tested on a couple my guitars and to me I def hear tuning issues, the ones I compared were Purple Rain's intro chords, Forever In My Life since that is just Prince jamming in G, and playing to Housequake and to my ears the 2 percent increase really made everything fit so much more and sound "right" to my ears

MFin' hell!!! So if I understand properly the digital files are clean, the vinyl and the CD are fucked??
Is it the only track with a problem??
Is it clean on HD Tracks?
EDIT: I just checked and it IS still clipped on Spotify. Compare it to the 1991 EP and it's obvious.

In addition to the CDs I bought the digital download from iTunes. It's clipped too.

I bought digital from Qobuz. The track is fine, nothing missing.

I thought it was fine too but kept listening to Minneapolis #1.. its not just louder, the SDE version is definitely cut off (even on CD) in that it only captures the decay of the first note. Apple "matched" version is the same (cut off). Havent tested the vinyl yet.

Yes, that's what I'm hearing on the CD and the iTunes digital download. The note isn't totally 100% removed. You hear its decay. Clipped is a good word for it... Which is all the more reason to assume it's a mistake. If they intended to cut the note altogether the edit would have been (should have been?) clearner.

The click of a drum stick at the begining of Adonis and Bathsheba is similarly missing. Initially I assumed that could have been an artistic descion, but now I'm thinking it very well could have been accidentally clipped like the introductory note from Visisions.

If these errors are on the set then we should return this mess.

with this amount of errors that most people spotted within days of listening for the first time, it makes me wonder how much care was actually put into the set. i mean, did these people not listen and live with the set a bit, just from the point of view of a consumer, playing it in their car or at the house or whatever? cause i'm thinking they played it back once through howe's iphone speakers and called it a day.

stuff like visions... i think my good friend DATABANK has a point when he says that the people in charge didn't know these things existed prior to working on the set, and i'm sure that goes for more than a few songs on this set, even the ones we knew by heart. it's quite sad really.

I'll start by saying this is an expansive set that I absolutely love and contains songs I wasn't convinced we'd ever get in the best quality possible (In A Large Room With No Light, The Ballad of Dorothy Parker with horns, among many others), and even a disk-full worth of tracks I had never heard (Blanche, When the Dawn of the Morning Comes, etc)…

…but of course it is not perfect.

There's been a "pop" in the title track forever in the first verse, when Prince sings "DIED":

In France a skinny man DI[POP]ED of a big disease with a little name

It's on my original cassette, original 2CD set, on streaming services, and is still present (maybe even more clear) on the Super Deluxe Edition.

And, while the 12" hardcover book is truly lovely, the hyphenation in it is atrocious, i.e.

ever-
ything

and many other similar examples.

The remaster, in my opinion, is a thing of beauty, and while we could argue all day about songs missing from the vault disks, I'm actually THRILLED that the SOTT concert film couldn't be included and we instead got two other concerts. That's a win for us, since the concert film has already been "deluxed" recently and available on blu-ray and HD streaming.

It would be more understanding if some of thes errors were minor things buried deep in the cuts. After listening to these songs thousands of times in prepping the set, the engineers could easily miss stuff like that.

But with the case of Visions and Adonis & Bathsheba, the mistakes are literally the very first note/sound of the recording. How did that not jump out at them?

I don't hear that at all. Granted, I'm no audiphile and my ears aren't as sensitive as many of the other contributors to the Org, but I assumed I'd be able to detect a pop.

To be fair, the drum stick at the beginning of "Adonis..." is part of a count off. They decided to remove it. It might be frustrating, but it's not a mistake, IMO.

It's also possible Prince removed it and what we have on boots is an earlier mixdown.

Yeah, you're right, of course: I don't know why I automatically supposed "they" removed that part. I have developed a bias against "them", I guess. biggrin

WHAT? I've never heard it, but it's definitely there. I'd say it's more a 'click' sound than a pop, but a glitch nonetheless.

Yeah, the missing drumstick hit is completely killing the vibe for me, it ruins the experience of the song entirely!

According to Pvault:

Take The "A" Train is listed as part of “I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man” on the DVD, but it’s not actually in this rendition. It is an interpolation in “It’s Gonna Be A Beautiful Night”, where it is not listed.
Pacemaker is listed as part of the intro of “I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man”, but it’s in the coda of this rendition. It is also an interpolation in “It’s Gonna Be A Beautiful Night”, where it is not listed.

Like, what drugs were they on at Iron Mountain?? eek

Looks like a rush job.

Experts were not available, no princevault to check, and the child support payment was due.

And we pay for this?

that's life, as they say. that's the rub.
