I sincerely hope you're not suggesting to master a release from a cassette tape that was duplicated at high speed (as all mass-produced cassettes were)...

.

I'm afraid to these ears it certainly sounds that they did. The sound is a bit tinny and flat compared to other cassettes in my collection. Heck, I have cassettes from the 70s with more umph than this slouch

You know that Dolby no longer license Dolby noise reduction for cassette duplication, don't you?

They could... They just choose not to. confused

You'll never see the Dolby double-D logo on a newly-manufactured cassette.

http://www.tapeheads.net/...hp?t=62155

Indie cassette manufacturers will sometimes master cassettes with Dolby B NR equipment - but would never label it as such, or advertise the fact.

Major labels??? Nope. Never.

So, if you've been listening with Dolby NR turned-on, turn it off. It'll be making it sound flat.

Embrace the tape hiss, and aim for a frown on your EQ.

Oh, I ain't talking about hiss (the tape is free from and hiss). I'm talking about flat sound. I actually run a cassette label and I buy new tapes all the time so I do know what I'm on about. This release is not up to scratch, sadly.
