Slightly off topic but where do you find out when an album was last certified and why aren't they certified regularly? It's madness that PR hasn't been certified in 21 years.

On the RIAA site.

PR hasn't been recertified since 1996. I guess it's politics and record company who's responsible. After Prince's falling out with WB I guess WB didn't feel obligiated to recertify it. It's a shame, in 21 years if it was recertified it would be in the TOP 10 selling albums of all time in USA.

It stands at 13x Platinum in the U.S. I am sure in 21 years it has sold millions and millions more since.

Blah bah blah ROD. Same post for 4 years. Prince sales are low, no one buys his music. Not an insult. It's facts. Lets check your last 20 posts on the org and copy and paste them into one thread... Yes, it is considered TROLLING.

I only respond to the posts that quote me, without understanding what I'm saying, and ignoring facts, sales, charts and numbers.

.

You are a troll, because you make up numbers and sales out of nowhere : BATMAN sold 11 millions, PURPLe rain sold 25 millions, HNR2 was #3 in the US, etc.

Last year you confounded streaming and physical sales, and even albums and singles sales (you and Laura claimed that prince sold 5 millions albums the week after his death, etc.).

.

Ignorance is bliss ROD. Ignorance is bliss.

Lets try this again, ROD is a SLOW learner... lol

1. I make up sales out of nowhere?... BATMAN like I stated in a few posts above, I created a thread on it because it is one of the most conflicted numbers in sales with claims on WIKIPEDIA of it selling 4 million, 6 million and 11 million. Yes WIKIPEDIA states that, I just don't make random numbers up unlike you with your estimats.

2. PURPLE RAIN has sold over 25 million world wide, and to be honest we don't know how much PR has sold in total, as Prince said he wanted that album audited on the Tavis Smiley interview in 2009 as he also believes the album has sold much more.

3. HNR2 #3 in U.S. was a typo which I edited it, but obviously not in time before you could crucify me on my error. HNR2 peaked at #4 on R&B charts and #40 on pop charts, selling 57,000 in U.S. alone since November.

4. We don't CLAIM anything ROD. You are the one who has claimed everything on here that has been untrue, your ridiculous sales numbers which are all estimates and all wrong, as you just proved, how you said his U.S. sales numbers and World Wide sales numbers for PR DELUXE would be, which ended up being wrong again. How you created a thread a few years back saying PRINCE would never break the BB TOP 200 again, which once again you were wrong.

The claim PRINCE sold 5 million after his death wasn't a claim, we reported a news story from BILLBOARD, we don't claim and claim, you claim.

ARTICLE:

http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/7767819/prince-sold-more-albums-than-any-artist-2016

"In the year after Prince's death on April 21, 2016, the Purple One's catalog of albums and songs have sold a combined 7.7 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music, through the week ending April 13. Of that sum, 2.3 million were in traditional album sales, and 5.4 million were from digital song downloads.

The bulk of his album and songs sales occurred in the month after his death: 5.65 million were registered between April 21 and May 19, 2016.

Incredibly, for the full year of 2016, Prince sold more albums than any other artist "

You're gonna stop insulting me and being agressive now, please, if there is a troll here you're the one, giving fake numbers and sales (I remember you claimed BATMAN sold 11 millions worldwide, Purple rain 25 millions, etc.)

1. 4EVER was certified gold in the Uk, I never claimed the contrary. But it was a flop eveywhere else besides US and netherlands, in spite of a huge promotion campaign.

.

2. You're incredible claimed HNR2 peaked at #3, and now that you understood you were completely wrong, you do as if you never said that.

You have no source to claim that HNR2 sold 57.000 in the US as of november 2016...Moreover, 57.000 is still a flop for a first post-death release, I'm sorry. Even the new Chuck Berry made a better beginning all around the world !

.

3. Of course it was released on Tidal in december 2015...I never claimed the contrary. I only said the worldwide physical release was just after his death. Nobody bought it on Tidal, it never made the top 200, or even sub-charts such as independant album, streaming charts, etc.

I don't insult you, you were the one that called me drunk remember...

I just call you out on your posts all being the same for four years.

I nver claimed BATMAN sold 11 million world wide, I made a thread about BATMAN because that is one of his misclaimed numbers for sales, what I did post was there have been claims BATMAN has sold 4 million, 6 million and 11 million according to its WIKIPEDIA page, and I wanted to know what was the exact number as it was a huge film back in 89 and the album was selling well.

Yes PURPLE RAIN has sold estimated over 25 million plus around the world, including the non certified millions and millions it sold since 1996.

1. 4EVER is still selling consistantly, these compilations sell slow but consistant.

2. I didn't claim anything, yes it was a typo, it didn't peak at #3 but #4 on the R&B charts, and #40 on the pop charts, I edited the post but you obviously responded before I edited it. The source is BillBoard ROD, HNR 2 has sold 57,000 in the U.S.A. since November 16. You are the one with no sources always estimating numbers.

When I report facts, you just ramble with estimates and estimates all the time. You estimated PR DELUXE would sell no more than 60,000 world wide... It has surpassed that number with just two countires (U.S. and U.K.) Stop estimating, and stop posting that his sales are low no one buys his music, we get it.

[Edited 7/3/17 6:45am]

I gently called you "drunk ? lol" because you stated numerous times something that was utterly false, being aggressive.

.

And no, Purple Rain is not even at 23 millions worldwide. I wonder where you think it sold this 2 millions copies in excess ?

.

1. lol no, 4EVER is only selling in the US, Uk and Netherlands, and it could have been much better if there was post 1993 singles on it.

These 3 countries are hardly the whole wide world. You see, that's why I'm repeating myself, because you have hard time to understand it.

You also do as if there wasn't a huge campaign in Europe to sell it last december, and that if failed miserably. And this explain mostly why WB gave up promoting PR deluxe at all.

.

2) Ok you made a typo, sorry. Next time you are so aggressive pretending things, at least re-read yourself. HNR2 sold 57.000 ex in 6 months, ok. I said that in 1 year it sold 30.000. You were right, but 60.000 is hardly what you can call a success, and that was the point of it.

.

3) PR deluxe sold 60.000 in 2 countries, but these 2 countries are basically 80 % of his worldwide sales. It's still low. Nobody could sincerely say "okay, these are good sales".

How old are you? Do you realized that back in the day record companies would buy up their own releases. Use payola to get more spins on the radio. What is God's green earth makes you think that none of this cannot occur with his streaming. Not to mention most people in Prince's core fan group do not even like streaming and I doubt WB produced a large quantity of CDs simple due to the utter cheapness of the entire project. You got someone on this board telling you he cannot find it and I was able to listen on Tidal before my pre-ordered CD arrived at my house. ( Cluster fuck of a kick off and I yet to see any major advertising) This project is doing good for the pathetic manner in which it has been launched not that I think it would have been any different if he went with another company.

No one in the industry was co-signing on what Prince was doing and the powers that be are working to undo it.

Why do you think Prince was starting to use Peer to Peer?

I do not think charts should exist anymore. Streaming and the availability to purchase one song off of an album rather than the whole record void, in my mind, any type of comparison among artists.

These are the facts: Purple Rain is and will be constantly selling.

Even before April 2016 PR sold 1400 to 2000 copies each week in the US alone, which makes around 70 to 80 000 records per year.

Not to speak about what happened after P left us....

Now we get a remaster and it enters the charts everywhere, Top Ten or top 20, so this shows us again

that Prince records are selling quite good.

The big hype of a new Prince album when he was alive is probably not gonna happen but i am glad if we get as much new music, concert footage, remasters as we can...

Another fact: In 2016 no one sold more records in the US than Prince..no one !

Worldwide he was one of the worlds biggest selling artists

According to billboard:

"Last week, Billboard reported that Prince sold more albums in the U.S. in 2016 than any other artist, moving a combined 2.3 million copies, according to Nielsen Music, most of them in the month following his sudden death on April 21, 2016. Those were spread across titles like The Very Best Of Prince (668,000 copies), Purple Rain (498,000) and 1999 (169,000). On the IFPI's global artist list, the Purple One came in ninth overall.

IFPI's February announcement included the list of the top 10 global artists of the year, with David Bowie, Coldplay, Adele and Justin Bieber rounding out the top five in order. Twenty One Pilots, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Prince and The Weeknd, respectively, made up the rest of the top 10. "

The officiall BILLBOARD numbers just in:

BILLBOARD 200 - PURPLE RAIN DELUXE - #4

1ST WEEK U.S. SALES - 52.000

BILLBOARD:

Prince and the Revolution’s Purple Rain soundtrack, first released in 1984, re-enters the list straight in at No. 4, following its deluxe remastered reissue on June 23. The album — combining all versions of Purple Rain, past and present — earned 52,000 units in the tracking frame (of which 48,000 were in traditional album sales). The set collected a 3,633 percent gain in units for the week, and a 4,767 percent leap in album sales.

Even though the physical sales are quite strong... It's a shame his streaming numbers are very low, probably the lowest for any legacy artist of Prince's stature in the music industry.

Only 4,000 sales accounted to streams, while the average artist has at least 20,000 sales accounted to streaming. If Prince didn't come so late in the streaming sites his future sales numbers would be doubled. But the good news is over 95% of his fanbase is indeed purchasing his releases instead of streaming them.

I didn't understand your post

You are asking me if the charts are fake. I am telling you yes the numbers have been fudged in the past and they can still be fudged. It does not matter to you anyway because when people give you the documentation that exist you do not belive it.

It's ok linus, we all understand it, ROD doesn't... You don't have to post sources and BillBoard, ROD can't read, he will think we are making up numbers again when we are posting sourced facts.

But linus, Rod will say Prince doesn't sell, so be warned. lol

I know, this is more for other orgers:)

Purple Rain debuted at the position n. 13 in Italy. Why isn't the US Billboard Top 200 Album page up-to-date?

I believe they actually update the charts on Mondays even though they have the information prior to this (the chart week si Friday through thursday). The Billboard site has historically been much slower on the weekends so I guess thay want to make the offical changes when everyone is back at work.

With PR he was on the top of his fame, so I believe it was a smart commercial move from WB Netherlands to put it out again wink

I totally agree! Across Europe Prince wasn't mainstream before Purple Rain.

Hence why 1999 the double album was re-promoted late-1984 and a double A-side single was released and peaked in the charts in January 1985.

But I suppose to most of us this is well known Prince music history.
