Prince's private memorial in LA

http://www.etonline.com/n..._memorial/

he solemn event was organized by Prince's ex-wives, Manuela Testolini and Mayte Garcia, and held at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles. The location of the memorial was a closely-guarded secret in the days leading up to the event.

Interesting guest list. Lots of ex's in one place.

Yeah, we'll, we'll try to imagine what silence looks like.

It really sounds like a lovely service, wit Prince being remembered by those who loved him dearly. I'm glad they did this.

Interesting that they did this without his Siblings being included, or wait for them to organise an official memorial.

And explains the slightly bizarre statement from Tyka about non-offical memorials (as far as we knew there weren't any!)... It sounds slightly bitchy in the context of this now happening. She clearly was pissed about it.

.

But it seems that lots of people that knew Prince quite well turned up to this anyway. Which perhaps says something about their thought about his family... maybe!??

Just my opinion, but they still should have at least reached out to some of his family members to attend, and should understand that his siblings are still grieving. I mean it was nice of them to do a memorial. I think reaching out to his actual family, would have been the respectful thing to do, even if they denied the invitation.

I could understand his family members trying to protect their brother from those who probably weren't around as his friends, in the last 2 or 3 years of his life, and only showing their faces now.

Only Prince's exes could make memorials honoring Prince a cold war about which woman Prince loved the most.

They must have reached out in some way, as Prince's brother Omarr spoke at the service...

Good for them. Tyka wwas not the closest person to Prince, and nobody needs her permission to honour him.

I would love to know which Khalil Gibran poem was read, as well as view the musical tribute film and celebration of life film listed in the program.

like some in his own family. anyway, these people were not just hollywood people. ex wives, mother of his child, ex girlfriends, friends who loved him and he loved should have the opportunity to come together, grieve him and provide some closure for them.

A lot of beautiful people. Seems he touched a lot of lives in different ways. I do wonder where were others like Andy Allo, Carmen Electra, Stevie Wonder, Janelle etc. Maybe not pictured but interesting who maybe was and was not invited. Good for Mayte for organizing a service.

Well none of us would really know what kind of relationship he had with his family members or friends. We're all just still in the grieving process of losing a mega star musician and just being speculative I guess. shrug

It's my impression that the people he was in regular contact with went to the first memorial. But the people who went to this one are perhaps the people members of the org would have preferred he was still friends with?

And Mani, she organized it with Mayte. I wonder who wasn't invited? Were Sheila E. or Larry there?

Probably the whole family members were, but only Omarr accepted or went as a representative of the family.
