the document is heavily redacted and shows nothing but what we already know. That Russian bots were employed to help Trump.

Even the GOP propaganda channel Fox News is ignoring this.

The story in question is very suspect: https://slate.com/technol...epair.html

A lot of things don’t quite add up about this supremely weird account of how the information changed hands, not the least of which is the supposed conduct of the shop owner. The Daily Beast ended up tracking down and publishing an interview with a man claiming to be the man in question, in which he spouted conspiracy theories about Hillary Clinton and denounced Trump’s impeachment as a “sham.” He also said that there had actually been three laptops and that he had a medical condition that prevented him from seeing who exactly had dropped them off. The Daily Beast reported that the interviewee, John Paul Mac Isaac of Wilmington, kept changing his story about how he came into contact with the FBI.

Whatever the case may actually be, the turn of events as laid out by the Post has raised serious concerns among the computer-repair community. Assuming the story about the store owner actually happened as the Post described, then “ethically, you shouldn’t touch the data,” said Kyle Wiens, founder and CEO of the DIY electronics repair company iFixit. “Wipe the laptop, sell it, and move on with your life. That’s what the shop should’ve done.” Typically for a water-damage repair, there’s really no reason to do a thorough search of the hard drive. Given that the repair only costed $85 according to the receipt, Wiens suspects that all the repair person needed to do was to open up the laptop, dry it out, check it for corrosion, and then put it together again. The repair person may have needed to boot up the laptop and quickly access the hard drive just to make sure that the device is working again, but rifling through a customer’s emails and pictures falls way outside the bounds of what’s necessary.

The shop owner’s separate decisions to share the hard drive contents with the FBI and then with Giuliani pose different legal and ethical questions. Computer repair people are sometimes required to notify authorities if they discover criminal evidence on a customer’s device, but that’s usually only in cases of child pornography. Many states, including Delaware, have laws mandating such disclosures. For other crimes, it’s more or less up to the repair person’s discretion. A customer’s Fourth Amendment rights against warrantless searches and seizures wouldn’t necessarily apply if the repair people were to happen upon evidence through the course of routine servicing and turn it over to law enforcement on their own volition. “An individual just on their own seeing something and then reporting it doesn’t turn into a Fourth Amendment violation,” said Electronic Frontier Foundation attorney Aaron Mackey, who brought up the example of someone being asked to water their neighbor’s plants and then spotting something illegal in the garage. The equation changes when law enforcement begins paying repair people for turning over evidence, as was the case with the Best Buy Geek Squad’s cozy relationship with the FBI, which Mackey uncovered in 2018, but that doesn’t seem to have happened with the Biden laptop. One could argue that fact that the hard drive was reportedly abandoned may also give law enforcement more leeway to search it, though the question of how the Fourth Amendment applies to discarded personal electronic devices still hasn’t been settled by the courts.

I guess this news doesn't set well with those that believe in Obamagate: https://www.washingtonpos...story.html

Unmasking’ probe commissioned by Barr concludes without charges or any public report

The federal prosecutor appointed by Attorney General William P. Barr to review whether Obama-era officials improperly requested the identities of individuals whose names were redacted in intelligence documents has completed his work without finding any substantive wrongdoing, according to people familiar with the matter.

The revelation that U.S. Attorney John Bash, who left the department last week, had concluded his review without criminal charges or any public report will rankle President Trump at a moment when he is particularly upset at the Justice Department. The department has so far declined to release the results of Bash’s work, though people familiar with his findings say they would likely disappoint conservatives who have tried to paint the “unmasking” of names — a common practice in government to help understand classified documents — as a political conspiracy.

The president in recent days has pressed federal law enforcement to move against his political adversaries and complained that a different prosecutor tapped by Barr to investigate the FBI’s 2016 investigation of his campaign will not be issuing any public findings before the election. ...

... Bash’s team was focused not just on unmasking, but also on whether Obama-era officials provided information to reporters, according to people familiar with the probe, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive investigation. But the findings ultimately turned over to Barr fell short of what Trump and others might have hoped, and the attorney general’s office elected not to release them publicly, the people familiar with the matter said. The Washington Post was unable to review the full results of what Bash found.

________________________________

One of the complaints by Trump was the number of unmasking requests by Obama. And Sean Hannity stated that Obama's unmasking requests jumped 3-fold and how horrible that was. BUT...

There were more than 10,000 unmaskings last year and nearly 17,000 in 2018, according to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence's Statistical Transparency reports. There were 9,529 in 2017, Trump's first year in office.

Under the Obama administration, there were about 9,217 unmaskings in 2016 and only 654 in 2015.

But yeah, the Obama administration unmasking requests were just SOOOOO terrible. That is until you look at the Trump administration.

Exactly.

So let me get this straight. Hunter Biden has a damaged Laptop that's filled with 100's of compromising(and some possibly illegal content) emails and photos, and he decides to leave it at a repair shop and doesn't return to pick it up? Even after repeated attempts to contact?

i know that drugs cloud a persons judgment, but damn, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. And that's not including all the other suspect stuff. Also, i thought that whole Joe Biden, Hunter Biden Ukrainian deal thing was looked into? Why wasn't those emails used to further the investigation?

To be honest, idk if the shit's real or not. And i really don't care if it is. For the past 4 years republicans have been overlooking trump's(and others) lies, deceit and criminality etc etc. So i say f**k em.

That's one of the democrats problems, playing nice. The gloves should have came off a long tme ago. punch hammer stab shoot laser fryingpan jedi brick finger

I'm not sure I'd go as far as saying he looks 'pretty cool', but the comparison with Trump's children is stark. Biden has children who have given him real world experiences that people can relate too, he has dealt with addiction, grief, and many other real world things. Compare that to the ultra-priviliged, spoiled brats of Trump, who are complicit in his money-laundering and lies. To me this is a non-story.

And another thing. That don't look like a crack pipe. The people i've seen smoke crack use those straight looking ones. They also use those copper pot cleaners to filter the drug once it's lit. And, who ever heard of a crack head or meth addict falling asleep while high, and with the pipe still in their mouth? i thought that shit made people stay up for days at a time, picking up stuff off the ground? That could be a meth pipe or weed pipe(friend used to work at a smoke shop) though.

Cool is a meaningless subjective barometer of not very much... which is pretty much the response that this kind of attempted-gotcha news (I say attempted because Hunter Biden having massive drug problems is hardly breaking news) deserves.

Clearly, if there was enough to investigate Trump for 4 years over the ridiculous Russia collusion nonsense then this absolutely needs investigation. Thank your big tech overlords for hiding this story from you, but the emails are out there as well as the video of Joe Biden admitting to the corruption.

I stopped as soon as Tim Pool lied very early in the youtube. He lied to say that twitter was blocking the US government because it blocked "house.gov". You could see that this was a lie by the address. What it blocked was specific Republican press releases - not the US government. This is like saying blocking "onmicrosoft.com" means you are blocking Microsoft.

.

Party press releases are spin, nothing but spin. He is spinning spin to make it look like a conspiracy by tech companies rather than an attempt at an October surprise by a party known for lying in its previous October surprise. It is being pushed here by a conspiracy theorist spinning how things are being kept from us. It is a standard conspiracy theory tactic: first find the big bad (eg tech companies, Hillary or the US government), show that the big bad is keeping things from the us and the experts (Blocking free speech, hiding the emails or the UFOs), find or make up a distraction that will stick in people's minds (alleged murders that never happened, crack pipes used by a person already known to have a drug problem, men in black cars). And finally dismiss the prevailing alterate answer with a deflection (getting Assange to lie and say the Russians had nothing to do with it, criticism of trump never needs verification)

.

This has been investigated - trump has even tried to bribe a country that needed assistance to protect themselves from Putin in this. Even if the email is real it does not change anything. The previous investigations have confirmed the trump/Guiliani/Republican conspiracy timeline simply does not work. The European and US call and moves to remove the corrupt Ukrainian from the process started before Hunter Biden was appointed and before any alleged meeting. Until there is verified evidence of a secret meeting with Biden and that meeting resulted in a corrupt outcome, this is a big "nothing burger".

.

Guilani knows it but he also knows that spin and headlines are what convinces idiots in the last days of an election campaign - so he tried to bribe the press for a headline that said "Lying Joe".

Exactly! And even if the email is real (which I doubt) it stated, "I would like to thank you for the opportunity to meet with your father". Opportunity defined is: a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something. Therefore, if the email is real, Hunter was going to provide the opportunity, but there is NOTHING to indicate that it ever actually happened. This would be like Trump stating, "I'm going to release a healthcare plan in 2 weeks," (a definitive statement) but then doesn't do it. Hunter could have said, "Hey, come to the USA and I'll introduce you to my dad, the vice president" and then didn't do it. It's much ado about nothing.

Feds examining whether alleged Hunter Biden emails are linked to a foreign intel operation

One email, which has not been confirmed to be authentic, suggested a meeting between Joe Biden and a rep from a Ukraine firm that once paid his son Hunter.

By Ken Dilanian

WASHINGTON — Federal investigators are examining whether the emails allegedly describing activities by Joe Biden and his son Hunter and found on a laptop at a Delaware repair shop are linked to a foreign intelligence operation, two people familiar with the matter told NBC News.

The FBI seized the laptop and a hard drive through a grand jury subpoena. The subpoena was later published by the New York Post. The bureau has declined to comment.

The Post, a conservative tabloid, has published a series of stories based on emails the newspaper said it obtained from President Donald Trump’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani. The first story highlighted what it called a “smoking gun email” that suggested a meeting between Vice President Biden and a representative of a Ukrainian company that once paid Hunter Biden. The Biden campaign says there is no evidence the meeting happened, and the story was greeted with widespread skepticism.

George Mesires, attorney for Hunter Biden, said in a statement, “We have no idea where this came from, and certainly cannot credit anything that Rudy Giuliani provided to the New York Post, but what I do know for certain is that this purported meeting never happened.”

“The New York Post never asked the Biden campaign about the critical elements of this story,” said Biden campaign spokesman Andrew Bates. “They certainly never raised that Rudy Giuliani — whose discredited conspiracy theories and alliance with figures connected to Russian intelligence have been widely reported — claimed to have such materials.”

Bates added, “We have reviewed Joe Biden's official schedules from the time and no meeting, as alleged by the New York Post, ever took place."

Questions have swirled around the Post’s account of how it obtained the emails and other materials. The newspaper said they were found on a laptop left in a Delaware repair shop in April 2019 and never claimed. The repair shop owner then took it upon himself to access the private material, the Post said.
