Third democratic debate 9/12/19

No clear leader in the polls. Biden still the front runner. I still think Mayor Pete is the best candidate by far.
If Biden gets the nomination, then fine. He has a good chance of beating Turd.
Warren getting the nomination would mean possibly losing to Turd. I don’t think she’ll get the nomination and i personally hope she doesn’t.

Your Guide To The 3rd Democratic Debate

There are now less than five months to go before the first votes are cast in the Democratic presidential nominating contest. So the spotlight is going to be even hotter on the 10 candidates who made the cut for Thursday's debate in Houston.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren is ascendant with more Democrats saying they like her than any other candidate, but former Vice President Joe Biden continues to lead in the polls. So what might set them apart, what could be the flashpoints Thursday night, and can any of the other candidates break through?

Here are some key logistical questions, followed by political ones:

When is the debate? Thursday from 8-11 p.m. ET

What channel is it on? ABC and Univision (with Spanish translation)

Who are the moderators? ABC's George Stephanopoulos, David Muir, Linsey Davis and Univision's Jorge Ramos

Who's on the stage? Biden, Sens. Cory Booker of New Jersey, Kamala Harris of California, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Warren, as well as South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Obama Housing Secretary Julián Castro, former Rep. Beto O'Rourke of Texas and tech investor Andrew Yang.

What were the qualifications to get into this debate? 2% in at least four Democratic polls, either nationally or in early states, as well as 130,000 donors from at least 20 states and at least 400 in each state.

Biden and Warren seem to very much have the establishment behind them in this race, for better or for worse all things considered, it'll be interesting to see how it goes.

Yes that's to be expected as they have been around long enough. Especially Biden.

No Tulsi neutral

I don't think Biden has a chance. Dude doesn't even seem like he'd live through a single term he so old. lol

Seriously though, it would be nice to have someone who's actually going to be alive for the next 10-15 years get elected.

Agreed. And yes I do realize thats it’s ageist, but there is reason to be concerned.

I like both Biden and Warren well enough, and I think they’ll do a good enough job, but I’d rather see someone younger like Mayor Pete.
.
God knows we’ve already set the bar and normalized senile old fools with Reagan and now Turd (so gringeworthy every time he opens his stupid mouth)
so I don’t think Warren or Biden would be anywhere as bad.

My whole thing is that someone who isn't going to be around for the aftermath of their policies is likely to create different policies than someone who is, and we have a lot of older folks running the show so far.

Biden, Booker and Mayor Pete come off a the most levelheaded and sensible. Biden still comes off as most electable.

Warren is OK to me. Biden and Bernie are too old and out of touch; especially Biden.

Booker has been impressive, as has Castro. Beto's been too quiet and so has Kloubachar. I agree that Harris is looking like she's not quite ready for this.

I like Mayor Pete and Andrew Yang the best so far.

I gotta give props to Biden and Bernie as they are both by all metrics doing a great job presenting themselves as viable intelligent candidates.

I understand the age issue, but they are demonstrating themselves better than most everyone running and on stage today. This debate proves that out.

Well, I don’t think anyone came off on top tonight and whomever you liked best going in, you’re probably happy with how your choice performed. Likewise, I still think Buttigieg is the best so far.

I still think that Biden has memory problems. I love Biden but I just think he is way too old and is starting to have some problems.

IMO Bernie is out too.

We need someone young and someone fresh.

Booker is my pick so far. It seems he has a good head on his shoulders and I think he is ready.

I like Beto, but I just don't think he will win against Trump.

Pete, I like and I could support him.

Sad to say but I don't think any of the women have a chance unless it's on the VP ticket. I still believe that we are not ready for a woman as President this time around.

I think that Booker/Pete would be a good combo. Booker/Harris would be great. Pete/Booker and Pete/Harris.

Did anyone notice that women's rights were not brought up at all last night? sad

I thought about Booker and Pete as well. We need smart levelheaded people in office right now to blunt the national taste of batshit crazy out of our collective psyche.
I think Pete is the stronger candidate at the moment, but I would absolutely support a Buttigeig/Booker ticket in whatever order right now.

Booker has been vetted and his skeleton closet has already been ransacked. The problem with Mayor Pete is he hasn’t yet been publicly scrutinized at this level.

And yes sadly, the more people mentioning Biden’s memory/cognition/age problem the more I tend to agree that past his time for the job.

That fake-Mexican unapologetic cultural appropriator fool Frances got his chonies in wad when after saying he will take away guns by force was challenged to try.

What if a republican said "We are going to ban Abortion or same sex marriage"?

What Franko said is NO Different... well it is worst as owning guns is an actual right.

.
It took a while for you to get a talking point reaction from your news feed.
.
I don’t mind the right attacking Beto. It’s good they chew on him and are distracted with him.

I think Beto is putting himself out there specifically for attention and distraction fodder he can get his way.
I think he knows he doesn’t have a chance this year and is aiming for as much mainstream media attention he can get for something else down the road.
