SANDERS OUT! GRISHAM IN

https://www.washingtonpos...16877339bf

Sarah Sanders
, the combative White House press secretary whose tenure was marked by controversy and questions about her credibility, resigned Thursday after 22 months on the job.

President Trump announced her unexpected departure in a tweet, writing: “After 3 1/2 years, our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of Arkansas.”

He added: “She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas — she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!”

She is as qualified to be governor as he is to be prez rolleyes

I’m wondering if Hope Hicks is replacing her? Any rumors on that?

My cynical suspicious side is telling me that her testifying before congress and a nice compensation package including a White House position for her loyalty may be on the table.

The Office of Special Counsel asked for KellyAnne Conway to be removed from her position for violations of the Hatch Act. Of course the White House is fighting back and stating that they did not follow the proper procedure and protocol for making that request.

Here's a link to the story:

https://www.nbcnews.com/p...h-n1017241

A government watchdog agency recommended Thursday that Kellyanne Conway, a top aide to President Donald Trump, be removed from federal office for repeated violations of the Hatch Act, which prohibits government employees from engaging in certain political activity.

The Office of Special Counsel, an independent agency that enforces the act, said it sent a report to Trump detailing "numerous occasions" in which Conway violated the law by saying disparaging things about Democratic presidential candidates in television interviews and on social media while acting in her official capacity as counselor to the president.

The act provides an exception for the president and vice president, but not employees of the White House, the agency said in a statement.

"Ms. Conway's violations, if left unpunished, would send a message to all federal employees that they need not abide by the Hatch Act's restrictions. Her actions thus erode the principal foundation of our democratic system — the rule of law," the agency added.

Exactly! I found out about it here. None of the news stations were talking about it. I thought that would have been big news for them. I guess she was non-news to them. They gave more coverage to the Kellyanne story. I guess Sanders was so nasty to many in the media/journalists, that they didn’t give her resignation any cover on the day they found out. Lol. I’m glad she’s leaving. No more smug face. That’s the look she always wore.

Update: They only mentioned a snippet of it this morning on msnbc. A less than 15 seconds mention.

The news media were likely silently rejoicing... but you're right - they really didn't give the story much coverage. All she did was lie to them, after all. wink

^^ I think it was a suprise. It was reported she would leave. The next Gov election in Arkansas is not until 2022, so it's not urgent. He ditched her for some reason. Look at what she tweeted Wed night.

"Does @CBSNews know something I don’t about my plans and my future?" Sanders tweeted Wednesday evening. "I was at my daughter’s year-end Kindergarten event and they ran a story about my 'plans to leave the WH' without even talking to me. I love my job and am honored to work for @POTUS."

They say the White House press conference is killed off with her, hasn't been one in over 90 days.

I wonder if this could have anything to do with her departure?

A source close to the White House said there was frustration inside the White House and among the President's political advisers with press secretary Sarah Sanders' handling of the ABC interview prior to the announcement of her departure.

That led to days of criticism from Democratic politicians and even some of the President's fellow Republicans. And then on Thursday, Trump announced Sanders is stepping down at the end of the month to return to Arkansas with her family. He praised her service. The interview was not mentioned as a potential reason for her departure.

Still, the ABC interview was an "issue" for Sanders, the adviser said. One White House official even questioned the wisdom of giving such extensive access to the network.
But the decision to grant the interview was ultimately Trump's, the official said.

White House press briefings appear to be dead. Wonder if a new person will even make a difference?

https://www.businessinsider.com/sarah-sanders-most-notorious-moments-white-house-press-secretary-2019-6

It has been nearly 100 days since the last time Sanders held an official press conference in the White House briefing room. Instead, Sanders will hold short gaggles along the walkways of the White House grounds.

Classic fresh Kellyanne Conway regarding Trump's secret deal with Mexico:

The president’s counselor Kellyanne Conway told MSNBC on Wednesday that she could not comment on the piece of paper Trump was holding and declined to say when the details of the secret agreement will be made public.

“I’m not going to talk about any one piece of paper,” Conway said. “The president carries a lot of papers around with him at any given time.”
