AOC tells Trump he has no choice over tax returns: 'We didn’t ask you'

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/aoc-tells-trump-congress-wont-take-no-for-an-answer-on-tax-returns

Congress: “We’re going to need a copy of the President’s tax returns from 2013-2018.”

45: “No, I’m ‘under audit.’ ”

Congress: “We didn’t ask you.”

By the way - WHICH returns is he claiming are "under audit"? The current 2017 return, or ALL returns going back to 20xx?

I'd find it hard to believe the IRS is still auditing, say, Trump's 2009 return. So release it. There's no "audit" excuse that applies to that one, or to any other return whose audit has been completed.

We'll fight about 2017's return, and Trump will lose that fight. But the returns that are not under audit anymore? To quote Morris E. Day,

"Release it".

lol

Mark Knoller @markknoller

Informed of House Ways & Means request for his tax returns, @POTUS says he's still under audit. "I'm always under audit it seems," He said until he's no longer under audit, he's "not inclined" to release his returns. Though the Congressional request was to the IRS - not to him.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin faces a challenging test after Democrats formally requested President Trump's tax returns.

Mnuchin has been one of Trump's most loyal Cabinet members, defending the president's policies and personal conduct when others have shied away.

Now as the president's chief line of defense he will have to balance his loyalty to Trump against a request that many experts say leaves him little wiggle room.

“[The] request tests Mnuchin’s oath of office: whether Mnuchin will faithfully execute the laws of the United States, or whether Mnuchin will bend to the will of the president,” said Steve Rosenthal, a senior fellow at the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center who testified before Congress in February about the need to request Trump’s tax returns.

Even if House Democrats get their hands on Donald Trump’s tax returns, many of their biggest questions about the president’s finances will probably go unanswered.

Those documents won’t provide a definitive picture of the president’s wealth, whether he’s played by the rules or whether he benefited personally from the tax overhaul he signed in 2017...

...“Depending on the year or circumstance, the tax returns could be a road map of Trump’s financial dealings, or they could contain fool’s gold,” Steve Rossman, a shareholder at accounting firm Drucker & Scaccetti. “It’s a snapshot that could show a lot, but information could be masked.”

There's only one reason why serial adulterer Donald J. Trump is fighting the release of his tax returns, and that is because there are things in there that he feels would be damaging to him if publicized.

What those things are is anyone's guess but there's no doubt they are there. Otherwise, serial adulterer Donald J. Trump wouldn't be refusing to release them.

Same thing with the Mueller report. There are things in there that are injurious to Trump and/or people around him, so he will try to keep the report from being seen by anyone, much less released.

It wouldn't be a race war. For instance, I'd have dibs on that fat fuck Alex Jones, and we're the same race.

Agree. Bloomberg runs conservative for the most part.

Also the speculation that he didn't make as much as he bragged, ala inauguration crowds.

Zero collusion my ass! And, I guess you're also ok that he's dodged paying appropriate taxes too. Him and likely his entire family, while the regular folk pay through the nose. Wonderful neutral

nod The article says that even if he were being audited, it wouldn't be for all the years anyway, and some could be released. It's BS.
