For 65 years straight, the #1 genre in music, selling wise, was rock n' roll worldwide. Last year (2017) in June, it got de-crowned by hip hop. Hip hop is the #1 genre. It's hip hop - rock - country - pop or pop - country. ~ Pras

Download all the shit hop that you can for your kids, neices, nephews, and their friends also. That will prevent them from going out and buying it and will prevent some shit hop sales. Every little bit helps - Andy

Forever immortalized in his son MJJ's film GHOSTS:

content_mj_ghosts-022.jpg

In all seriousness, this film is totally overlooked for the depth of psychology and its deliberate and dark jabs at himself and different states of mind. I do believe the Ghoul was intentional and intentionally resembled the person inside he changed his appearance to distance himself from

As for Joseph.... hell, the guy did help get them out of a dangerous place called GARY, INDIANA..... they DID become some of the most famous (and in the case of 1, and maybe Jermaine) some of the most talented recording artists of their time.

That's no small feat. Suppose like most ppl's legacies his has its share of darkness and insanity (sneaking into the kid's rooms window to terrify them of strangers...)

U do gotta realize even with that... they were... growing up in GARY INDIANA...... That place is reportedly still dangerous and violent as hell.

Whatever we think of Joe, we can't dispute that he helped birth to perhaps the greatest and most successful family in music history.

Dude's kids garnered over 150 top 40 hits on all of the Billboard Pop, R&B, and Dance charts over the course of 50 years

Hats off to Joeseph Jackson.
Say & think what you will. It’s been already said/joked about (my fav joe adage from Martin will forever be “That’s some bullish Hel-La-Do!”—i say that like 10 nights a week) but seriously—imma tread carefully and say that to raise/navigate the lives of 8 kids in Gary Indiana in the early 60s PRE civil rights to just merely “survive and thrive”—-nevermind rule the world—was BEYOND an achievement. He raised 8 superheroes without a manual. In my world “Joe Jackson” was my paraphrased term to describe to people my own dad’s version of black fatherhood. Their response was mostly “oooh?—(a beat later) OOOH! 👀” In hindsight do I subscribe to those same theories? (The strict disciplinarian/rule with the belt/tough love method) I’ll be honest, i wrestle with that thought 24/7—lol i went to therapy over those thoughts. I mean it’s funny cute when I speak of those Prince punishments & racing home before the Oprah theme started “or else” or do as I’m told “or else” or you better “Yo MTV Raps that homework or else!”—-or “you better not cry for I give you something to cry about”—- (“or else”= the belt!) those w black fathers know what I’m talkin bout willis. I knew where Mike was coming from when he talked about his strained status w Oprah. My dad and I mended decades of anger/trauma/panic differences about a month before his deathbed. He expressed some regrets over his tactics effecting our general closeness. I get it. It was the crack 80s. You saw what was out there for me and that level of panic makes you go overboard in overburdening guidance. I’m not saying to follow suit (lord knows I won’t)

But i understand.

I’d like to thank Joseph for offering us hope & inspiration through his sons & daughters. It coulda been way easier to fall into the cracks to the land of statistics of the forgotten. But that will & drive. Gave your kids will & drive, which subsequently gave me will & drive.
Respect.

Joseph Jackson may he rest in peace....

because he and this family has been ripped to shreds for what practically seems like forever and it was for no legit reason.

the sheer hatred that's been spewed his way and the family's way has been the worst occurrence I've ever seen....ever......I never seen anything like it, and it intensified over time

one day, and I know it won't happen, this family is owed a global apology across the board by those who contributed in directing vitriol and hatred towards them when since the days of the Jackson Five through the present moment, they have been more than gracious against the constant attacks, the insinuations they have been dysfunctional, the destroying of the family dynamic during the late 80s to draw out the family's most successful member, the whole nine.

Joseph was painted as this monster when the reality is that although he was imperfect like all of us are, he raised his family, and was raising them years before anyone knew they were going to be singers and performers, and had their best interest at heart because if he didn't their careers would have waned during the 70s......

Looking at the big picture rather than taking snapshots is important.

He was a strict disciplinarian but he was not the abuser he was depicted.....that was all smoke, that narrative needs to be tossed in the waste can because it's not real

and if we stop and think about it, Joseph Jackson wasn't trying to hog the camera during the years of Jackson five/Jackson's prominence, or when Michael reached global superstardom, he wasn't berating around trying to take all the credit and he wasn't doing interviews after interviews bragging about he was their father.....he mostly stayed behind the scenes

if he did not have his sons' best interest in mind, he would not have encouraged them to develop their own sound and produce their own music, it's a very distinct possibility that Michael Jackson's career would not have taken off as a solo performer if his father did not have that foresight, there wouldn't have been an OTW, Thriller and everything else that followed.

The narrative will not stand in the end......I'll always appreciate the musical message, that was real, tangible, authentic, and it enriched the soul. That peacock symbol on the back of their album covers meant something

This should have been the greatest story ever told in the history of modern music......

but may he rest in peace and peace to the family...

BEating the kids till they pissed themselves, passed out, or thought they were gonna die is one thing... but yes, I'm pretty sure that's where this is going.

Too much smoke to be no fire. Whether LaToya was insane (prob still is) or not, it sounds credible [the implication that Joe sexually abused Rebbie and LaToya in their youth] given the instances and span of time in which it was said. Also, but not completely verified with an alleged discussion with Jermaine as well... (in that proposed book that I don't believe ever came out "LEGACY" by Jermaine and Stacey Brown (a guy)

Hence my inclusion of the SUPER GHOUL from MJJ's GHOSTS .... a ghoul from the inside that was very much intended to be Michael's father Joseph. You can tell he was wrestling with his demons and even showed himself pulling off his face (a mask replete with tattooed hairline) and also the bit about Tom Sneddon... MJ was showing his irks and fears and weaknesses albeit with much of it being overlooked by people. (cause the film was barely seen in the USA at the time)

AS for the book and Jermaine... I remember this from years of checking up on him and googling Michael almost daily. (I did this with my favorite musicians: Stevie, Black Sabbath, Queen/Freddie Mercury, MJ, ALice iN Chains, Helloween etc)

this is a page that attempts to gather the sources. I never did that, but I distinctly remember interviews and Jermaine shopping around a book.

Ghosts had NOTHING to do with Joe Jackson. It had EVERYTHING to do with that piece of shit Tom Sneddon. The “mayor”, played by Michael, was an almost replica of Sneddon. Look at ghosts again and listen to the dialogue from Michael from all the characters he played in the film. Sneddon is the culprit, not Joe Jackson.

Btw, Joe was many things, but, I will never believe that he sexually abused that liar, LaToya or Rebbie. LaToya was/is an opportunist and said all those things for publicity and money. Her family forgave her for her lies and deception; however, she is still trash in my opinion.

I think its pretty obvious that the ghoul is a dead ringer for Papa Joe Jackson, and that Michael when Pulling off his skin, reveals his image had changed so drastically as to allude to the fact that while he didn't want it to be that way, he had to put on the mask... [the nose job fascination had reportedly been to distance selves from Joe's appearance, although later... maybe he was just trying to look like Peter Pan]

But of course the ENTIRE bit is about him being ostracized and hunted down like a monster cause he's not the most ordinary person on the block.

And yeah, I did mention Sneddon. That's the obvious bit.

I like the film. though the dancers aren't very scary. I wish someone could track down prints of that and show it at my local hang spot. (Thinner o/w GHOSTS)

cause the one that was used was from (corrected) JULY 7 2002 . I think he was going through issues with Paw paw...although he reconnected with him in 2003 with the trial and all that bullshit....

And although he probably DID have a will later than that.. it has never shown up. There was the family's attempt to dismiss the will used, calling it a forgery, owing to the fact that he was apparently in NY that very day with "jesse jackson" talking about the evil devilish tommy mottola.

HOWEVER, this was brought up far later than the deadline required by the state/federal laws...

so their contestation was never accepted, not sure if it was even dismissed. It's been nearly 9 years since I looked at all that

ALSO,
it should be noted that MJJ parted ways with his eventual "executors" Branca and John McClain... even going so far as to deride Branca at one point.

either way: this is supposed to be a link to the doc:

The "narrative" about Joe being mean and abusive to his kids, while sometimes exaggerated, isn't " all smoke" as stated

We can give due to Joe for pushing and encouraging his kids to be the icons they've become and making the most successul family in pop music history as well as fighting people in the industry who didn't believe in his children as much as he did and also acknowledge some of his actions in raising his children was extremely hurtful and scarred them emotionally and mentally.

Also, we can ALSO acknowledge that when all of his children needed him, he was there

When Janet went through her problems, he was there

When LaToya finally got away from Jack Gordon, Joe was there

Every single day Michael was in court, Joe was there, literally holding his hand and was there holding him up as he walked out when he was acquitted

Was Joe the devil? No. Has he been unfairly depicted at times? Yes. But was he incredibly hard on his kids that it left them with emotional scars? Yes too.

The man had many layers
