Parallels between PP and MJ's Neverland

Both were envisioned as expressions of what mattered to P and MJ. Both were intended to be safe harbors but eventually both encompassed only those who would keep their mouths’ shut and would view whatever went on inside the gates as ‘normal.’

Toward the end, both places became repositories of secrets, some illegal, and served only to distance /protect their owners from the real world. They could retreat there from reality to a place where no one would ever say ‘No’ and all the toys of their dreams lay at their feet. Both men, born in modest circumstances, used their wealth to build over-the-top edifices as monuments to their success, control and genius. However, they weren’t healthy/nurturing places to live a good life. In both cases, IMO, these places were key to their demise. Notice, I haven't referenced the similarities of their religious beliefs, the fact that both men made an effort not to look Black and, of course, the androgeny.

Interesting... And before this thread suffers the fate of all threads that have "MJ" in the title, I just like to say that you may be on to something. I never looked at it that way. The big difference is of course that PP was a recording studio where Prince created music. If you're going to shut yourself off from the outside world, then I prefer the guy who built a recording studio to the guy who built a playground!

Well something to think about is the fact that their homes represented their dreams. Prince's grew up wanting to be as big as he was, MJ didn't. As a kid, Prince wanted to be a famous musician/singer but MJ was already a famous singer as a kid so Prince got something he never had, his own studio where he can play as much music as he wanted and Mike got what he always wanted, to be a kid and just play as much as he wanted and you can't really judge him for that. There are laws against a kid working as much as MJ did....but that just my opinion.

Some need to understand and accept that most Lighter skinned toned African Americans look like Prince and Prince was trying to include people All cultural backgrounds into his art. There is no black and white, as he described
As for similarly, yes there are similarlities between the two artist, but as Prince also said at one point of time, he looked up to MJ

Thank you mjscarousel. Neverland was Michael's HOME. Pure and simple. He opened his HOME up to HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of children AND their FAMLIES. I wonder how many people on this org. Know that that Michael invited returning soldiers/veterans and their families to Neverland. Of course, the media didn't mention that because their agenda was to make Michael and his HOME seem as if it was something evil. Everyone who went to Neverland said that you didn't want to leave because it was so beautiful and peaceful. To compare Paisely Park and Neverland is like comparing a recording studio to an unbelievably beautiful island. Even if I were not a Michael fan, I would choose Neverland a thousand times over Paisley Park. Of course that's just my opinion.

Besides, Neverland isn't MJ's "home" anymore...It was sold off since the estate could no longer afford to keep it cuz it went from being an asset to being a liability..Sorry, not sorry...

Thanx for playing...

BTW, Have ya heard?...PP's a museum to forever commemorate P's legacy...

Neverland was not "sold off". The MJ Estate could buy it fully back if they want too but they are choosing not too. However, they still have a stake in it and part owner.

Paisley Park is a relatively Modest Workspace....a concert hall and in Princes own words a "Clubhouse" where we his fans could gather

Neverland was a Fantasy "Palace" upon which Michael almost bankrupted himself buying ostentatious pieces of Guilded everything .

Both MJ and P had similiarities just like many artists do, the music industry is a special world in that way... IMO I think MJ & P needed these places, so they could escpae the craziness that comes with fame and crazy stans (like the crazy fan who trespassed PP in 2015 or the papz that would stalk MJ.) Most rich people in positions like MJ & P, retreat from the reality of normalcy. You're trying to imply somehow that they were trying to not look black? What proof do you have? The vitiligo MJ suffered from, was no JOKE and on top of that, changing ones nose - doesn't make you white. And about Prince, what is it about his look that makes you say he was trying to look non-black? His hairstyle? his clothes? the way he spoke? Prince was a lightskinned african-american, ligther than myself ( I'm triracial) but still undoubtedly Black. Black people are not monolithic and many legends of the past like James Brown would perm/straighten their hair - did you ever question their blackness? So why do it to MJ & Prince? Because they both married women of other origin than black? I think the biggest issue for MJ & Prince was their lack of trust and it made them very isolated, I don't think PP or Neverland had anything to do with it tho. If MJs story had been different, I'm sure he'd still be living in Neverland and enjoying life, helping the community...

I think we all need that. Some people more than others of course. After all, creating art is about transferring the fantasy world inside your own head into music or a book or whatever art form you choose. So artists may have this need (and ability) to create a world of their own more than other people. And Prince and Jackson also had the money to build these places, so why not...

MJ used Neverland to do things P didn't. For example, MJ did a lot of charity work towards kids through Neverland. He let kids play in the immense playground and fair, he let them have fun, eat candy and go on rides. And there was also entertainment for the kids at night, usually in MJ's room with the alarms on.

Why?

It's perfectly normal to share your bed one-on-one with a child. It's L.O.V.E.. You don't know what the kid is going through and you're just lending him love. It's just that that love comes with interest and the kid has to give it back, you know? But why the hell should a kid complain anyway: they get lots of toys, lots of free porn, a free fair just for them with lamas and bears and, like, comodo dragons, tasty Jesus Juice alcohol, shopping sprees for the entire family and the presence of a star. So, what's wrong if MJ asks for a little dinky? But people still criticize MJ just for being different, because they're manipulated by an evil media and they're, like, evil themselves, ya know? MJ had unshakable evidence he didn't molest anyone under his bed, but he didn't want to stoop to the haterz level. Besides, everytbhing was lost because of loots. Latoya also has it in a pen.
