NEW BOOK: The Jacksons Legacy (to be published in October)

JACKSONS_3d_GREY.jpg?format=1000w

The Jacksons: Legacy is the first ever official book on the the Royal Family of Pop. This major volume reveals the untold, unseen and utterly unforgettable story behind the legend that is the Jacksons. Four specially commissioned chapters deftly weave together an unprecedented 12 days’ worth of exclusive interviews with the brothers, recounted in their own words, with contributions from key players throughout their careers. The compelling tale unfolds from their childhood days living at 2300 Jackson Street in Gary, Indiana, through the years signed to Motown as the Jackson 5, their radical move to Epic as The Jacksons, the blossoming of their solo careers, the dizzying successes of the Victory tour, and right up to the present day.

During unrivalled access to the family archives as well as the private collections of Jackie, Marlon and Tito Jackson, bespoke photography captures a multitude of never-before-seen images, rarities and personal possessions. The result is a mind-blowing collection of visual material: intensely personal family pictures; all-angle shots of the first guitars the boys ever held; top photographer Harrison Funk’s exclusive coverage of their professional lives; photos of Michael Jackson on tour with his brothers during the release of Off The Wall (1979) and the 1982 phenomenon that was Thriller – the best-selling album of all time; editions of teen and black culture magazines featuring the family; and official merchandise, right down to Jacksons-branded breakfast cereal boxes with giveaway 7” records attached.

Published to coincide with their 50th anniversary, The Jacksons: Legacy is the definitive behind-the-scenes chronicle of the Jacksons’ lives and careers, celebrating 50 years of one of the greatest acts of all time.

  • The Jacksons Legacy is out worldwide on 12th October 2017. AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER NOW FROM AMAZON:http://bit.ly/JACKSONS

It's high time Universal and Motown get together to put together a proper career spanning boxset)

There's already been a boxset for Motown called Soulsation. Never one for the Epic Records era though. Not counting the live album there's only 6 albums there. Motown should re-release Jermaine's albums, most of which have never been on CD. Even Jackie's 1973 album has been on CD and so have obscure J5 albums like Boogie.

Yeah I owned the cassette edition and CD edition of Soulsation.

Sony and Universal teamed up for the "The Very Best of The Jacksons and The Jackson 5" 2CD set awhile back which was combining some Motown hits with the "Essential Jacksons" compilation.

But a multidisc set of 1969 to 1989 with ALL the hits, b-sides, and special mixes? There needs to be one.

Better yet, a Jackson family boxset. All of the labels they were previously on are now under one umbrella.

I just looked and for the most part, most of the family's catalog is now under Universal, Interscope, and Sony now (Janet owns her masters and they're under Rhythm Nation Records)

the one who they'd have to track down is LaToya's, funny enough.

Universal: Jackson 5, Jackie's first album, Jermaine's Motown catalog, Marlon's album, Michael's Motown catalog)

Interscope/Geffen: Jackie's Polydor album, Randy's A&M album

Sony: The Jacksons, Michael's adult catalog, Jermaine's Arista catalog, LaToya, Rebbie, 3T

Independent/smaller labels: Tito, LaToya's 90s albums, Austin Brown, Jermaine's recent album, Janet's catalog (her own label)

now, if we got those Ivory Tower and Jackson Records recordings....

Yeah every for the most part is under one roof now. All the important stuff at least.
Interscope is under Universal now.
And Sony and Universal have come together many times for MJ and Jacksons/J5 compilations in the last 10 years or so.

Why would he be put on a Jacksons box set or 3T for that matter? If they put their music on it, then they might as well have Marlon Jr. and Dealz too. razz Then have Joh'Vonnie write the liner notes. lol

Their songs actually charted tho (at least for 3T.) Not adding DealZ here tho or Marlon Jr (what does he do, at least Jermaine Jr played his pops in the movie.) lol

This video is cute. lol I am glad they are enjoying each other and back to performing again. They should have been got the band back together but better late than ever. It would be nice if Randy was apart of it too.

Marlon Jr. was in a rap group called Modern Day Poets who released an album in 2008. He went under the name "Chye Beats".

Jr.'s Myspace page is still up, but the one for the group is gone.

You mean you're not waiting to hear that Paris & Jermajesty collabo mixtape with Luther Jackson & The Loose Cannons Blues Band playing the music on one of the tracks?

Papa Joe can get that old guitar Tito broke the string on and play a Hotel California style guitar duel with Luther on the song. It will be that long awaited Falcons reunion. Janet & Randy can sing the hook on the trap remake of Love Song For Kids. The new version will be called Luv Song Fa Instagram (feat. A-Boogie Wit Da Hoodie)
