Jackson 5 and Stevie Wonder -"Buttercup", and other Stevie Tracks for other Artists

...

I was listening to a bunch of stuff that Stevie Wonder did for other artists, and he was certainly prolific from the late 60's through the 80's....but does anybody happen to know why this 1974-75 collaboration track was shelved, and didn't see the light of day until 2009? I know Carl Anderson covered it back in 1985--but this version would've hit radio hard back in the day.......I heard that there was possibly a whole Stevie /Jackson 5 album planned but it didn't go through for some reason...If anybody can shed light on this, lemme know!

One of the songs for the J5 album (You're Supposed To Keep Your Love For Me) was re-recorded for Jermaine's Let's Get Serious album. So I'm guessing he sung lead on the J5 version.

Where Are You Now may be another J5 outtake also.

I love MJ/Stevie their work together and Jackson 5 material. J5 appeared on some of Stevie's songs too uncredited. I believe MJ really sharpened his songwriting and studio skills when Stevie took him under his wing.

Stevie confirmed to a friend of mine that there are only 3-4 songs he did with The Jackson 5 in '74. Not an album's worth.

Another song was "A Pretty Face Is" which Stevie and Michael planned to re-record after Stevie finished Characters

Oh, Ok...so, although they worked on some stuff, there was not necessarily an album in the works for those tunes....

There was an album in the works, but for some reason it was halted. It's been said it was going to be a J5 album but also a solo MJ album, but nobody really knows.
