Does Journey deserve to be in the Rock hall??

Most of their stuff is ear cancer. They must be desperate.

Journey is one of the greatest rock bands ever. They have a handful of classic albums and hit singles.I think it's great that they were inducted.

Yep, and folks like Neal Schon come from Santana heritage, so good musical gene pool to come from.

I could take or leave them as Hall inductees. I liked their singles growing up. When I think of them now I think of Caddyshack, The Sopranos and Family Guy.

But it is a Hall of Fame. Acts like Journey are going to get in on that basis, especially since online fan voting counts towards the election.

I think if you have a building dedicated to rock and roll fame it makes sense for Journey to be in it, they were awfully rock and roll famous.

.

I hate them but so what, I hate lots of things.

Iffy. Great band but I'm not sure they had enough material to be RRHOF-worthy.

But then again, the RRHOF is mostly a joke now, so who cares?

If you've ever released an album, you're probably gonna end up in the Rock N Roll Hall of
Fame at some point.

I like Journey and they were probably the first music act to have a video game. So they were ahead of everybody else who later did that like Aerosmith, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Kris Kross, etc.

One night,I went to a bar to have a few beers. There was a jukebox and someone played "Don't Stop Believin'".Nearly everyone in the bar was singing along to every line lol it was so funny. That's the true definition of "classic song"...when everyone knows the lyrics and can relate to it.

And I played the fuq out of that game as a teenager. I think it was called Escape. Back then, it was pretty fun.

PS Edit: I'm not sure about other game systems, but it was for the Atari 2600.

Of course they do. Journey is a rock band who were huge at one point with many well remembered classic songs.

The ubiquity of "Don't Stop Believin'" alone is enough reason for them to be in.

not a huge fan of theirs but can't see why not, probably more deserving than a lot of people already in there.

You're honestly saying that the decison to induct a rock band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is the worst choice they've made?

They might be running out of Jann Wenner approved rock acts, but there's no way there's a shortage of rock acts. It's not a big secret that Wenner doesn't really like progressive rock or heavy metal and there's not many of those kinds of acts that has been inducted in the hall. He prefers blues and R&B based rock acts like ZZ Top, Eric Clapton, & Rolling Stones, all of who are inducted. Look at who has been inducted in recent years like Paul Butterfield Blues Band & Steve Miller Band, both blues based acts. I don't thinks there's many southern rock bands (ig. Marshall Tucker Band, 38 Special, Charlie Daniels Band, etc.) inducted either.

Au contraire! I give you (in alphabetical order):

Beastie Boys
Cat Stevens
Donna Summer
Earth, Wind and Fire
Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers
Genesis
Gladys Knight and the Pips
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five
Green Day
James Taylor
Jimmy Cliff
Joan Baez
Joni Mitchell
Leonard Cohen
Madonna
Miles Davis
N.W.A.
Nirvana (they killed rock and roll)
Pearl Jam
Pete Seeger
Public Enemy
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Run-D.M.C.
Tupac Shakur

and probably a lot of non-entertainers who were inducted who, while certainly talented, had absolutely nothing to do with rock and roll.

I'm not saying the entertainers listed above aren't/weren't talented...well, OK I am with respect to Nirvana, Peral Jam and all the rappers. But regardless, those people are not, were not, and never will be rock and rollers.

Rush, Genesis, and this year Yes and ELO have all gotten in. The best Southern bands- Allmans and Skynrd- are also in. To me, the biggest oversight remains the J. Geils Band- made more tragic that J Geils himself would never be around to see the induction if they ever make it in

I guess you have a very narrow view of what constitutes "rock and roll". And I maintain that every act you listed- especially Nirvana and Pearl Jam - made better music than Journey

That's what makes art great! My view isn't narrow at all - it just encompasses what I feel is actual rock and roll.

The RodeoSchro Rock and Roll Hall of Fame would be much different than Jann Wenner's Hall of Fame.
