i dont mean - he's on any drugs - literally..

i dont know the man.. im talking about the music and the message and the image.. everything.

it's cool though.. differen't strokes...

PS: IMHO this new 'Automaton'

music is disposable -

and Return of the space cowboy is a

CLASSIC jazz/funk ALBUM!

I MISS THE REAL JAY KAY.

The Cocaine & Expensive sports car collecting-

computerized, disco making dude does absolutely NOTHING for me.neutral

I hear you and agree with you but just wanna point out that (if I'm not mistaken) he WAS on Cocaine back in those days and he's no longer on it now (again, If I'm not mistaken). In the liner notes of the Remastered/Reissued Space Cowboy album, Jay Kay himself talks about how drugged out he was during the making of their 2nd album.

It's great that most of the best tunes from the new album are being performed on the tour. Here,Jamiroquai performs "Something About You" in Paris a few days ago

I was just shocked to read online at www.funkin.com that original Jamiroquai keyboardist Toby Smith passed away yesterday! Very sad news.

Toby Smith - 1970-2017

Toby Smith

It is with great sadness to hear and relay the news that original Jamiroquai keyboard player Toby Smith died on 11th April 2017. He was an original member of the band until 2002 when he left to spend more time with his family. He set up a recording studio at his home, started producing cider with some friends, built up a love (and garage) of classic cars and was a keen horse rider. This is a very sad day for all Jamiroquai fans. Much love to his wife, children and the rest of his family.

Jamiroquai Jumps Onto Dance/Electronic Albums Charts With 'Automaton'

4/12/2017 by Xander Zellner

Jay Kay of Jamiroquai performs on April 2, 2017 in Milan, Italy.
.

Jamiroquai earns its second No. 1 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Album Sales chart as Automaton debuts atop the list (dated April 22) with 6,000 albums sold, according to Nielsen Music. The sales help push the album to a No. 2 debut on the consumption-based Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart, Jamiroquai's third top five entry. A Funk Odyssey reigned in 2001 and Dynamite blasted in at No. 2 in 2005.
.
The set marks Jamiroquai's first appearance on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart since 2012's Rock Dust Light Star, which reached No. 17. The funk vets also debut on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart at No. 46 with "Cloud 9"; the new LP's title track hit No. 31 in February.

if the vocals were removed from "Summer Girl",that song could easily pass for a long-lost 1976 outtake by the Salsoul Orchestra or MFSB.It captures everything that I love about 70s soul and disco, particularly the Philly sound.

So I finally got the album. The album is pretty one dimensional, pretty much all superficial dance tracks, but it's a pretty fun listen nevertheless and I'm glad I got it.

Favorite songs:

1.) Hot Property (this song is hot! Reminds me of my girlfriend!)

2.) We Can Do It (very catchy)

3.) Cloud 9

4.) Vitamin (sounds straight off "Travelling Without Moving" album)

5.) Nights Out In The Jungle

Oh and it's a short album so I feel a little ripped off that they didn't include the Japenese Bonus Track "Nice and Spicy" on the album. I hate that entire practice of not letting fans get their hands on the best edition regardless of where they live.
