Absolutely not directed towards you. The thread was being derailed and polluted with so many "side bars"/audibles . I don't have a problem with a person who wants to write about a personal experience( from their own use) or perhaps, a family member who may have similar issues. There is obviously a heart felt connection with regards to how Prince died and I truly can respect that. I think people who posts such personal facts, are doing far more good than the family members who can't seem to acknowledge the very addiction the man had.

However, what tends to happen after that is that certain posters will piggy back off of the statements and derail the thread with things like "Elvis' plane, what color Prince's nails were , Mani's weave, etc. etc. etc... for days on end. These are usually the emptiest vessels that make the loudest noise. It is apparent the they do not have any information to add/don't research anything (yet beg for it) , thereby substituting their lack of information with something they deem more important. In doing so , the narrative of the investigation becomes watered down into some sub-chapter of the thread itself and subsequent to such irrelevance, consumes and distracts fellow participants in the thread. This serves to indicate one purpose , as in: There is nothing more to add. I have been tempted to put a more concise sequence of events together with proper dates/time/statements/notes(personal) and so forth, but it is exhausting.

There is a ton more information in those files, and I would venture to say that we have barely scratched the surface in some regards. A full and complete analysis would yield a hell of a lot more information. When you invest that much time ( as some of us have) ,the last thing you want to see is it all go to waste because a few posters intended on ending this chapter/saga instead of starting their own thread with its' relevant content.

Again, the previous post certainly was not directed towards you. I know your posting history. I probably should not have painted with such a broad brush.

At the least, we are back on track for however long that may last.

Well we better hurry up and get things posted because it is my understanding that once this thread closes there will be no other. I think there is actually only 1 mod on the forum who actually moderates, anymore.

::FACT CHECK:: -- Not true. There is June7, OF4S, militant langbleu, purplelove7, and myself. Some mods are more active than others. We don't live on the org 24/7 at your beck and call. We all have what's called "real lives" too.

It's been 2 years, Prince is dead of accidental OD. Discussion rehashed over and over, arm chair detectives, gossip, innuendos, etc, etc, etc. Going in circles. Time to move on, others have.

Every discussion here on the org are rehashed over and over. He's dead. That's all we have on Prince, it's nothing but retreads at this point.

Yes, there is no downside IMO in keeping any discussion re Prince alive because it keeps him from fading away in time and space...without the 'rehash' of how and why he died in that elevator all we are left with is the dead drugged out rock star narrative...and that's so painful and one dimensional...it's no wonder why fans are searching for any nuance that paints a more humane and tender picture.

Several of us have done quite a bit of research on this, and we've put our own time and effort into it. Menes has done incredible research. It's a shame that we can't just have a thread that shares what we found and to stick to the facts. And be allowed to discuss the facts. But people with an agenda to change the narrative have been allowed time and time again to derail the thread. It never fails that I am told to stay on topic and snipped, but others are allowed to get away with it. If people don't like the thread, why click on it? But you can tell by the number of views, the people who are complaining can't keep their eyes off it.

I've asked and asked if Ben has been consulted on this, and not ever an answer. Another mod didn't know anything about this 'new rule'.

I've done everything I can do to appeal this and have gone to everyone I know for answers.

We can have 17 picture threads of repeat pics, but on 1 rip thread for the rapper XXX a poster couldn't even post a pic of the kid and it got deleted because of 'bandwith'??

Let's just stick with the NONSENSE threads, like Did Prince watch Rocky Horror Picture Show, or was building Paisley Park a good idea, did Prince wear wigs, how big was his dick, etc, etc.

Look I’ve been an active participant in all these threads but I have to acknowledge that the best way to add “nuance” to our understanding of prince and “keep him alive” is to really thoughtfully and deeply consider and discuss his music. When I join the threads here focused on the music devoted his life to creating, that’s where I get the strongest feeling of nuance and respect.
-
If you really feel that without multiple years of discussion about the circumstances of his death, he will be forgotten as a “drugged out rock star” (whatever the hell that expression means; many rock stars who died drug related deaths are considered legends to this day), then I’d suggest doing what I do st those times and open up the threads on this very fan site where people engage deeply with his music.

Prince will never fade away in time and space, because the 40 years of music he gave us will live on forever, and his memory will refresh every time unheard music is pulled from his vault. We are all so much more than the cause of our death. Prince was a Son, Brother, Friend, Lover, Husband, and Father who also happened to be a musical genius which made him famous and known to the world. We all knew him because of his music, and that is how he should be remembered. He was not a "drugged out" rockstar. Just as Tom Petty did, he gave everything he had on the stage one week before he died. Please just let it go.

Again, nobody is making you comment or to even participate in this thread, but you can't keep your eyes off of it? Why? Because it's damn interesting that's why. You've told us goodbye on this thread 2 times now, and guess what? You're back.

You've not asked me about that. Ben does not need consulting on this. Usually just for major major issues that require his hands on, other than that he's busy with RL.

And now you're derailing this thread.

Back only to counter the opinion that Prince will now only be remembered as a "drugged out" dead rockstar, and also to support Luv4's response egardi g the decision to move on.
