I've never heard of Arnold Palmer either, but Tom Petty died only recently and that always draws attention (and money) to a rock star.

what dates does this cover? as Tom Petty has done well (postumously), considering his recent departure.

Palmer also has a line of clothing and probably tons of golfing merchandise like clubs, balls, tee's, hats, etc.

I don't know why you would LOL @ Elvis. Dude's been dead for decades, and is still raking in the cash. Clearly, whoever is in charge of his estate knows what the fuck they're doing.

Amazing MJ is number one, especially after all the controversy his Estate attracts, but with the scream album and the documenetary, expect him to remain relevant longer. Plus there was the "Off the wall" documentary last year and albums like Thriller and Bad are eternal seller. Michael Jackson deserves to be number one. If Neverland sells, he will be number one again.

.

Prince on the other hand is controversial - a greatest hits album with 7 inch mixes and one bootleg mix of an unreleased song and Purple Rain Deluxe, well okay great concept and album but hardly a big seller. Add on the controversy over his death, fighting fmaily, lack of will and the debacle with Paisley Park and you are surprised he is on the list at all. Good as Prince was, he had really been out of the mainstream for 20 years and back to a cult figure, whereas Michael remained relevant to his death.

He didn't make as many tracks as Prince, he hardly ever wrote music (as opposed to Prince) and he could only sing and play the guitar (again, Prince beat him easily at this).

I'm not saying Elvis wasn't above average though.

It's clear you haven't got a clue what youre talking about. This list has nothing to do who wrote music or how much tracks recorded. The credits goes to the Estate/record-company( for Elvis' it's Sony). The reason MJ is no.1 is the sale from shares from his legacy. In Elvis' case it's the opening of a new entertainmantcomplex and a hotel at Graceland. Not to mention the ongoing cd sales. Next time , do some research.

—Prince was not a cult figure. One of the last shows he did was at the Orecle arena which is a 18k seat venue some of the tickets were selling for 500.00 a pop. He has more music in that vault then MJ produced and once they start getting it out you will see. Paisley is not a debecle and remember estates make money from royalties, merchandise, fees, use of likeness and so on.

Sony has mishandled Hendrix since taking over and Janie Hendrix is most interested in movies than his music, not that there's much left to release beyond the Black Gold tapes.

This seems like a goofy list. And with Prince's estate up in the air, it's not getting paid that much.

And who is "Elizabeth Page"? Maybe Betty Page the pinup girl, but still don't think she would be that high on the list.

I binged Elizabeth page and she's known for one book. I'm a big book person and I never heard of it. I think they messed up on the name and accidently inserted Elizabeth instead of Betty.

Elizabeth Page is Betty Page, Betty is short for Elizabeth. She died in 2016 and had a following between the 1940s and 1960s when she was a pin up girl and was starring in many stag movies. Ask an old man and they will know who you are talking about. She took over where Betty Grable and the Vargas girls left off.

.

She was a contemporary of people such as Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield. Prince I am sorry LauraRichardson was a great live draw but not selling out 6 figure venues and was not annihilating the charts after the 90s. Also Prince is not really known outside of the USA and Europe/Australia, even here in New Zealand he is barely known. And unknown in the 3rd world. Michael Jackson on the other hand has global level fame.

Once again reading is fundamental. I never said he was lighting up the charts. He was not on a major label with a tradional deal for 20 years so was not going to be lighting up any charts.

He did sell out the Oracle arean in February and some of those tickets were going for $500.00 dollars a pop. I guess you also forgot about all the money he made on the Musicology Tour. He sold a 100 million in tickets and made another 6 million off the CD giveaways.

Record setting shows at the Q2 in vegas and Live Nation was trying to get him to do a big 100 city tour for years. He also did several private shows that he was payed a million for one of which was in January of 2016.

He was still a big concert draw and at the time of his death he had contract already signed for 9 more shows one of which would have been in a stadium and shows set for the fall in Australia.

You can feel free to look all of this up and it has been discussed in the media. You cannot give millions away to charity if you have no money to give.

If he was barely known is Australia who the hell came to his shows back in January? Ghost people. Who came to his shows in Europe on all those music festivals which you can view on YOUTUBE right now? Promotors do not continue to do shows with artist who do not move tickets and Prince was not playing in the local parks for free.

He had no mortages on his property and very little debt when he died. Go read the court docs and stop reading the tabs who have been unable to dig up dirt on him so they just make up some.

That's right, reading is fundamental. This thread is about the money made by celebrities after their death. So the number of concert tickets they sold during their lifetime or how much money they donated to charity is irrelevant.
