I love Lenny. He was quite popular when I was a teenager (late 90s, early - mid 2000s).

When You Were Mine would be a great choice although I wonder if he might have 2 sing in a lower octave or a different key in order 2 pull off that song. I would love 2 see Lenny do I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man.

Yes to this if he did the 3EG version. It's one of my favorite Prince songs and it doesn't get enough love in my opinion. I'd love it if he did When You Were Mine too but I wouldn't be surprised if he decides not to because it's the obvious choice.

Oh yes, yes that would be an excellent choice! It is certainly one that is rarely played. Would be nice to hear him play a song or two that hasn't already been done over and over. biggrin

So glad Lenny is doing this πŸ’œ I love Lenny and have seen him many, many times.
Hope he will include a piece of "let love rule" in his tribute.

I'm not familiar with the 3EG version of ICNTTPOYM. Was this a live performance? Nevermind, I found it on YT. I mainly like the 3EG performance for guitar solos, which are STELLAR! As for the pace and key of the song, I like the original better. The pace and key of the original + the guitar solos of the 3EG version would be amazing!

I guess I like it because it made me think of the song in a different way. So did the P&M performances. I'd love someone to do it any which way as I think it's a song of his that gets too overlooked.

Totally agree that I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man is overlooked. It's a great song, great storytelling and the title itself is cool.

Great, I just turned off the cable in my room because I never watch it and thought all the tributes were over. Guess I'm gonna have to turn it back on now. Can't miss anything regarding Prince.... [Edited 3/30/17 17:53pm]

I wouldn't mind if he did I Like it There. That's one of my favorite Prince guitar songs. Peach too (except not the version with Maceo Parker on Sax).

I loved Lenny up to and including "Lenny" - I still like him and support him, but his albums are pretty predictable and formulaic.

I still think he'll do a great job honoring Prince though!

Yes but I cannot help compare him to Prince growing the fro . . . sorry I cannot help it.

Love Lenny!

He showed how to honor Prince. Nobody can do Prince - so Lenny showed the way to do it.

From the snippets I saw on Twitter it's hard to give an opinion because the sound wasn't great but I don't know if I liked WDC. I don't need to hear some guitarist in Lenny's band wailing on a solo, I wanna here Lenny play. But not that song. Still props to him for paying tribute.

I'm confused by this not sure whether I like it or not. I just get this feeling after watching the full performance.
