The Minnesota Vikings are going all out for the grand opening of U.S. Bank Stadium.

Coming out of lurk mode to share this halftime clip I found on NME Facebook page. I hope to see more Viking games, they will play 'Lets Go Crazy' after each touchdown this season. I'm officially a fan! 💜

my family said i am getting on their nerves bc i have been playing this all day long. it is beautiful and perfect in everyway.

they should do this at tribute w the orchestra with a gospel choir backing. huge huge production to end the night.

lol The orchestra and that singer were good enough for me. It would be good if they had them perform at the end of the Minnie Tribute. By the way, does anyone know who that singer was? She sounded great singing Purple Rain

o for sure was good enuf for me too, i just had that vision for the MN tribute. but this is perfect to me

i am looking for her name, no luck so far.

and i just read that it was purple confetti that fell into the stadium that looked like rain as the solo began. man, how cool!

The singer was, I believe, one of the Steeles - either Jearlyn or Jevetta.

From what I understand, the orchestra parts were arranged by none other than Tommy Barbarella. Tommy, if you lurk the Org, that was fantastic!

If you want the full halftime performance (and one that probably won't be pulled anytime soon):

The sound starts out rough, but it gets better.

Words can't even describe how emotional it was to be there last night. I had huge goosebumps and a big lump in my throat throughout the performance -- the orchestra was beautiful (the video didn't even do it justice).

When his guitar riff filled the stadium, timed with the pictures and purple confetti flowing down from above -- the tears flowed. People around me were crying and joyously cheering at the same time. And singing along through tears.

I was a little embarrassed when the lights came on (because I was clearly crying), but comforted to see how many people in my section also had tears flowing....it was incredibly touching and therapeutic to see so many people (including some "macho" football fanatic grown men) wiping tears from their faces when the lights came back on. Complete strangers were hugging and comforting eachother. We all miss him so much. So, so much.

Beautifully written, thank you! That added a deeper dimension to my experience of watching a video clip. You brought me a bit closer to actually being there.

Also... hey Vikings! You just got yourself a new fan biggrin

Wow, beautiful. It reminds me of the Purple Rain viewing I went to after his death. Not a dry eye in the place. Every time he came on the screen, every one screamed, every song, everyone danced. All of us perfect strangers, cried and celebrated his life in that movie theater, and it was one of the most moving experiences of my life, so I can more than imagine the atmosphere that you were a part of.
I just want you here, I just want you near me baby, cause I'm scared I'll cry, I love you like crazy.
