I thought she said she had no idea oprah was coming to paisley park and the day of the interview he told her to "get out of the bed and get dressed oprah was here", but here she said they had expected the interview. Also after having zero relationship with him for 20 years she says prince is with her? FYI child living or not does not guarantee the father is yours, he could not have been more clear in his moving on from mayte I am reading the book, I don't have much time, so I am a few chapters in, sorry, but all of the belly dancing stuff seems a little over the top, maybe in a tiny super specialized world their are famous belly dancers, but in mainstream, famous belly dancers, zero. Also I do thank her for the visual of male belly dancers, google it... I liked her before the book and all of the media, I have changed my mind totally, just a few chapters in and good god how many times does the word "mama" appear. There is so much I don't like. Maybe after prince treats her terribly as has been alluded to on other threads I will have some love for her, but she got over everything and still pined for him, so probably not

I thought that about the Oprah thing too. She also confirms she wanted the book released on the anniversary of his death. She says she started writing it befire he died and he never said anything. In other interviews she says she was approached ti write a book before he died but had always refused. I did hear Prince shut the book down, so he was opposed to it.

I've heard it said before that Prince shut the book down, but the only place I've read that is here. Can you provide links to that?

Benni-there is a recent AP interview with Mayte in which she states that "He was aware that I was writing a book...he never said anything...Prince knew that I would never talk badly of our relationship..."

Why don't you provide a link as to where Mayte said Prince had "something bad in his gene pool"...you're reaching, Laura and taking things out of context from your bootleg most likely. You're actually worse at taking things out of context to suit your narrative than the rag tabloids. Maybe TMZ needs another writer for them, you'd do a fabulous job, just make sure to use your spellcheck
wink

Edit to add: Who said the book was "pulled"..link please

If he was aware and it was no problem for him at all that she was going to discuss all of these very intimate things in her book, then why didn't she do the book when he was alive? Not buying it.

I have no issue with her describing her own reaction to the baby's birth, but for her to throw in description of the baby's appearance and Prince's reaction to thereof, was so,so low on her part. They were not necessary. Truly, it was the most difficult thing to read in the book. sad Yet, there is a whole segment of people on this forum defending Mayte hard? disbelief Sorry, no.

This conversation began with people claiming "Prince had the book shut down", with no evidence therein. I simply stated that Mayte contradicted that in said interview, and provided a link. If you want to lay claim that Prince "shut it down", provide a link. Opinions of the book are neither here nor there. Simple

I read an interview where I read he contacted her by phone about the book (to stop it). However, I've probably read 1,300 articles since April and will have to check my bookmarks to find the link.

No matter what Mayte says, I think that she wanted to do the book before Prince died, but he would not allow it and would have faught against it. So when he died, she finally had her opportunity. That being said, it's her story to tell and there is nothing wrong with her writting the book.

Then be honest about it. She knows he would not have been okay with this and should explain her constant changing of the story. What she is saying in the interviews does not match what is in the book.

She is saying that she had a test and the birth defect was not caused by her. Who else would be responsible? Was this a virgin birth? Stop being silly and use your brain.

A birth defect is something no one knows they are carrying it is not something you can be blamed for. Why even go there? Why tell about his migraines and vomiting? Especially since she cast doubt on what he told her

This stuff is his business not hers. She contradicts so many things in her interviews and am begining to think the ghost writter wrote the book without her input.

Severe pfieffers syndrome is way more commonly caused by a gene mutation than inherited. If he was never tested there would be no way of knowing if the gene came from him, but statistically mutation is more likely. So since mutation happens during gestation, I guess he could blame that on her, like she is publiclally blaming him

Well I kept wondering if he did blame her? He was not an idiot he would have been able to look into a find out the causes. He had enough money to consult with the best doctors in that field as well as being near the mayo clinic. He got cold toward and I believe something happened between them she is not telling. I remember Wendy and Lisa saying he was not fake with his feelings he told you what was on his mind. I bet if he had a problem with her he let her know about.

The fact that he divorced Mani and she then married Eric and had two kids made many of his fans comment on the possibility of Prince being the carrier for that birth defect. It's her book and she decided to let the world know she is not the carrier. I can totally understand her need for doing that, ok? The amount of crap that has been said throughout the years, people suggesting that Prince had dumped her because she could not produce healthy babies as if she were some kind of factory/baby making machine, it's silly. So she wanted to set the story straight.

Set what record straight? Neither of them ever produced a healthy baby, so what is your point? And she said her second pregnancy was moler which mean an unviable egg she produced attached to her uterine wall, so how is that record set straight?

I'm just going to copy paste, cause it gets tiring repeating one's opinion/point.

FlyOnTheWall

This is the REAL Mayte. She has always resented her paltry divorce settlement from Prince. She was mad because she didn't get that "Purple Rain money," but now she's making up for it. This book is strictly about the vast fortune that she is poised to make by exploiting Prince's name and selling her so-called truth. Shame on her. I predict this shameless, mercenary money-grab is going to backfire on her.
