Is this about not being able to upload avatars? It's pretty annoying alright. I hope they get it fixed soon. Though I'm grateful to the mods for the work they do here, I'd appreciate if they could try move things along. Admittedly, it's not a major issue but like I say, it's pretty annoying.

You have to use the "Tree" icon right next to the omega icon. Hover over the Tree icon and it will say "Insert/edit image".

What I do is find an image I want to post, and then right-click on it and choose "Copy Image".

Then I paste it into an Org reply box. THEN I click on the image, which highlights it. THEN click on the tree icon.

You should see the link to the image in te top of the dialogue box. If you want, you can change the image size (handy for large pictures). Or, you can just do nothing at all. Whichever you choose, when you're ready to post click the "Update" button.

You're done!

There might be easier ways, but this way works for sure.

Any tips on uploading avatars? Every time I try to upload one, regardless of file size, it gives me a message saying it's too big or corrupt. Even though the one I've been trying to use is only 16kb and the size limit is 25kb.

Click on your 'my org' and click on forums. There may still be a glitch, it will be getting fixed by the org Founder.

Uploading avatar images

What you need:
A GIF or JPG image you'd like to use for your avatar, less than 15K in size on your disk

What to do once you've got that:
On the 'Change Forum Preferences' screen, simply click 'Browse...' and find the image on your system. Select it. Then click 'save forum preferences'. Your image will be uploaded and processed. Note that your avatar will not be immediately visible on the site! It must be "approved" by one of the moderators first. This usually takes less than 24 hours.

Can I use animated GIFs as my avatar?
No, they don't work. Only the first 'frame' of the animation will be saved as your avatar. It's best to stick to static images.

What if my image is bigger than 15K? How to I make it smaller?
You'll need to use an image editing tool such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. First, resize the image down to around 64 x 64 pixels. Any text will be totally unreadable in that size, so keep that in mind. If possible, reduce the number of colours as much as you can, and if your software has a web compression wizard (for example, Paint Shop Pro has an Optimizer wizard that helps you save out files really small), use it. You should then have a nice small avatar image ready to upload!

Thanks luv4u, but I've tried it with again with a picture that is 13kb and I get the same message telling me that it's "corrupt or too big after resizing (0.0kb) maximum file size 25kb". I'm not even able to use the avatar I had last week.

For that one, I have no idea. The avatar I have now (Rocket Frog!) is the only one I've ever had and after hearing your horror story, I'm not changing it! Good luck, I hope the problem gets fixed!

try this

just click the tree icon

insert you image url into the first box.... then click on the second box down (i think it's image description)... that should automatically give you your image size.... then insert the image

Copy/paste, don't even bother with the tree button/icon. Honestly. I literally only go find a phot, right click on it, click 'copy image' and then come here and click reply like I did to reply to you and right click in the white response box then 'paste' and voila. Same with gifs. It couldn't be any easier biggrin Hope that method works for you too. You don't have to bother with URLS or links or anything smile
