WYSIWYG editing: info & report issues here

Check it out... now when you create a new post, or reply, you get a nice "rich" editor!

There may be some rough edges (not working in a certain browser? I know it may not always work properly for editing old posts or with old "quoted" sections...) but let me know if it's busted.

Oh also AUTOSAVE of drafts! You can come back and resume if your browser crashes, or you accidentally click away, or close the window! Neat eh!

The autosave is the only thing I find good about this. Replying/Quoting takes way too long to load and the sig will be included when you quote someone's post!? Maybe it's just my old ass not wanting new technology, but, I'm sorry, I much preferred how it all worked before.

Well, there will be bugs to work out, that's true. And it will take a little longer to load, at least initially. I'll figure out how to get the extra code "highly cacheable" so it's not really noticeable, although I don't think it's that way yet.

The sig shouldn't be included when you quote -- I haven't seen that happen.

I don't understand yet why most people's posts, don't, in fact, have the new markup, though. Weird. It's making the paragraph breaks disappear sad

When I clicked on "reply", wrote my message, and hit "post", I got a message telling me that I couldn't start a thread without a message in the body. confuse Also, how do you get "fans"? biggrin

Just testing out the new features. Seems to work ok. I think I like it. What's up with the fans count under everyone's avatar and how come I don't have any fans? lol Edit* Font coloring isn't working.

OK well, I found a nasty bug (thanks Bart!) that was basically, uhh ripping out ALL the formatting from posts. Yeah, that's bad. Sadly for the posts affected, they aren't easily 'fixable' and will be run-together (not a ton of posts, but still, that sucks).

I'm looking into the issue of the 'need a meaningful topic' thing. That seems like it went to the 'post' page when it should have gone to the 'reply' page. I might have screwed up the links somewhere.

Thanks for your patience. There's a lot of "if you're a moderator, do this special stuff" and I did essentially all the testing under my moderator account. Sigh.

Just one little bug I've found. When I click the purple Reply button at the top or bottom, and I type a reply, when I hit Post Response, I get a popup warning telling me "You Cannot Start A New Topic Without A Subject". Yes, well I know that, but I'm not starting a new topic, just replying.

The only work around I've found is to "Reply With Quote", and just erase the whole quote in order to post a general response to the thread.

'tha hell??? lol

I can't post any of the additional emoticons or a pic from my photobucket.

And even though it ain't my call to make, doesn't the "fans" thingy make this site even more cliqueish than it already is?

I'm running IE/windows vista.

Ernest, I tried from FF 3.6.4 and all seems well. Really odd. I did just remove some of the 'checks' so maybe that will help.

For you and the guy who just gets a "grey screen", I suggest clearing your browser cache -- seems like you might not be getting all the new javascript. Maybe just Shift+Reload will work too (easier to try first).

Add'l emotes should be working (now; they were broken for a while). cookie for example. But you DO need to get to that screen from the "all emoticons" link to the left of the compose window, not from inside the "code help" screen.

The emoticons are not "wysiwyg" yet -- the old codes get inserted, but they should look right when you preview and finally save.

You should be able to post pics using the 2nd to last icon in the toolbar. I just inserted this:

for example.

I keep getting these three errors:

First when I try to post or reply on a thread I get this fucker right here:

error 01

Then I go back to the original screen and get this fucker right here:

When I hit reply again I'll either get the first message or I'll get this right here:

<--If I get that motherfucker, then everything works and my post happens (note I had to post this 3 times to even say this)

ok, I figured out what's triggering it.

I only get the error cited above (with the screenshots) if I reply to the thread without replying to a specific post from a user (with quotes).

If I respond to a specific user post (with quotes), everything works.

I do notice that if I try to edit ANYTHING after initially posting it with embeded images, I lose both paragraph formatting and the images in my edit and it ends up looking all wonky.

Oh and if it helps, I'm on a mac using Safari 3, but it also does the same thing on Google Chrome. However, I can guarantee one thing... it isn't the Mac, ben. IT's NEVER EVER the mac. I notice I'm writing this inside a raw text box now that allows me to see HTML tags---can we get the option of just typing things with HTML tags? I actually work faster in HTML than I do in fancy editors. boxed
