Ironic he says were should not call for people to be fired under the banner of free speech? Huh what? Being Fired is not a violation of free speech... and calling for someone to be fired is free speech.

but he does seem to get his act together...in that he calls out liberals over a lot of their crap.

A lot of people here need to listen up so many here (some who have posted in this topic)...

And it is just a foolish LIE to say Trump is going to cancel the election! LOL they said that for Clinton and bush and barack... why? well, some of that is over the actual law to suspend elections if need be...

what has he done to make you or anyone think he is a would-be dictator? obama actually said he was not one and then he whined that he could not bypass Congress and then he said he was going to and then he did, in fact, bypass Congress.

But what has trump done? What has Trump said? to make you or anyone believe that?

for that idiot maher to say that turump might try is silly... and only a fool thinks it is even plausible.

Take your meds man. Two of the guests on the show were Republicans who said he was being a dictator. The Black Republican said there are problems with blacks being shot by police. Linda Chavez said Trump is not even a Republican.

3) cops shot something like 2 times as many white people... granted that doesn't account for population ratios. Also, many of those cases were in democratic controlled areas. EARLY WARNING SIGNS OF FASCISM

1. Powerful and continuing nationalism
2. Disdain for human rights
3. Identification of enemies...ying cause
4. Rampant sexism
5. Controlled mass media
6. Obsession with national security
7. Religion and government intertwined
8. Corporate power protected
9. Labor power suppressed
10. Disdain for intellectual and the arts
11. Obsession with crime and punishment
12. Rampant cronyism and corruption

How many of these fit Trump ? I say 11 out of 12, at least...possibly all 12 (he pretty much runs Fox News as State Run TV)

https://washingtonmonthly...f-fascism/

You can follow the links above, but it shouldn’t be necessary if you’ve been paying any attention.

Trump’s message is based on putting America “first,” making America “great again,” and is clearly a powerful form of nationalism that we’re also seeing arise in other countries in Europe and Asia.

Trump’s disdain for human rights is legend, but examples include his desire to kill the relatives of terrorists (something he accomplished this week), his insistence that he’ll do “worse than waterboarding” and his statement in the White House that “torture absolutely works.”

Trump has used Mexican “rapists” and Islamic terrorists as unifying enemies. This tactic is actually perhaps the core of his political strategy.

Trump’s sexism is one of the most transparent and well-established things we know about him.

Just this week, Trump advocated that someone friendly to him buy the New York Times. His chief adviser Steve Bannon comes from the Breitbart media dynamo and has told the media to shut their mouth. So far, Trumpists do not own much of the media, so they seek to marginalize and intimidate them. In any case, Fox News does a pretty good job on their own, and the right owns talk radio.

Trump has already used national security as an excuse to ban Muslims and purge opponents in the Justice Department. The State Department comes next.

As for entwining religion and government, that can be seen in Mike Pence’s entire political career, but it’s also evident in the way that Trump has nakedly tried to make his immigration ban apply more fully to Muslims than to Christians. The Republican Party has had fascist tendencies in this regard that long predate Trump, but Trump has really run with (white) Christian nationalism as a fundamental part of his appeal. He cast himself as the defender of this group.

Trump has appointed the richest cabinet in history and proposes corporate friendly policies to match.

His nominee for Labor Secretary is a strong opponent of organized labor and Trump has had a poor relationship with labor in his business career. Most recently, this has been in the news in relation to the labor force at his Las Vegas hotel. Overall, Trump will go after unions across the board, especially public service unions and government employees.

On humanities and arts, The Hill reports that under the current budget blueprint, “The Corporation for Public Broadcasting would be privatized, while the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities would be eliminated entirely.” Of course, the Trumpistas’ disdain for “bicoastal elites” is almost unlimited, and their contempt for intellectuals and academics is total.

Trump’s obsession with crime and punishment is clear from his revival of Richard Nixon’s “law and order” rhetoric and his constant comparisons of black communities to violent hellholes.

Finally, it’s a little too early to talk about rampant corruption and cronyism, but it’s not too early to point out that Trump is violating the Emoluments Clause to the Constitution by using his position as president to attract foreign patronage to his hotels. His refusal to disclose his taxes or to truly distance himself from his corporations will assure both the perception and the reality of corruption and cronyism. In any case, one of the best established things about Trump is that he is a crooked man who doesn’t honor contracts, engages in fraudulent enterprises, and likes to use his financial clout to bully people in the legal system. This will continue now that he’s president.

So, there you have it. Twelve early signs of fascism, and Trump and his movement have already checked 11 of the boxes and are assured of checking the twelfth.

For the June 18 cover of TIME on the political attacks launched by White House on Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, we turned to Brooklyn-based artist Tim O’Brien. A long-time TIME collaborator, O’Brien has had work appear on over two dozen TIME covers since 1989, with subjects ranging from Pope Benedict XVI to Osama Bin Laden.

https://www.alternet.org/...able-signs

President Donald Trump may fail to qualify as a dictator, but it’s not for lack of trying.

In late 2016, Harvard University's Robert and Renée Belfer professor of international relations Stephen M. Walt wrote a 10-point list for analyzing whether a president is a dictator.

Less than half-way through his first term, Trump has fulfilled seven of the 10 criteria.

Trump Systematically Attempts to Intimidate the Media

The president routinely bullies the press, creating environments that range from hostile to physically unsafe.

This began during the campaign and continues to this day, as Trump riles rally crowds against the press and repeatedly attacks them on social media.

“These people, they hate your guts,” he recently told a rally about the press.

The president reportedly told a reporter off-camera that he intentionally bullies the press to “demean” and “discredit” them.

Trump Politicizes Domestic Security Agencies

This requires little explanation, as the president attacks national security entities on a near-daily basis.

Trump repeatedly engages in outright conspiracy theories to sow distrust of national security entities among political allies.

The FBI is a favorite target. Trump has gone so far as to falsely claim the agency was illicitly spying on him during the 2016 election.

Trump Used State Power to Punish an Opponent

Since his election, the president has attacked nearly 20 corporations.

In one notable example, Trump cost Amazon “billions of dollars in market cap as investors sold off stock.” Trump did so by engaging in a public PR attack on the company through his Twitter account.

The president has also attacked the press by threatening to change libel laws. He considers journalists to be an opposition force, labeling major networks like CNN and NBC “fake news.”

Trump Stacked the Supreme Court

After Republicans denied a vote on President Barack Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court, they swiftly moved to install a Trump nominee following his swearing-in.

Trump took advantage of the GOP’s bad faith action, appointing Justice Neil Gorsuch rather than calling for a hearing of Obama-appointee Merrick Garland.

His decision to capitalize rather than correct the unethical move by his party is an unusual example of court-stacking.

Trump Regularly Fearmongers

Trump opened his campaign with a call to fear.

“They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists,” is among the most memorable linesfrom his opening campaign attacks on people of Mexican descent.

His policies as president reflect this xenophobia, including repeated attempts to ban travel from Muslim-majority countries.

Trump’s fixation on forcing Mexico to pay for a southern border wall to fight a nonexistent immigration crisis is yet another example of fear-mongering through isolationism.

Trump Demonizes the Opposition

The president has directly called critical media the “enemy of the American people,” to say nothing of the insults he regularly lobs at any political opponent who dares to stand in his way.

Trump’s ascent to the presidency was arguably birthed from the demonization of former President Barack Obama, who Trump portrayed as an illegitimate foreign invader who illegally took the oath of office.

He’s made a show of attacking black football players, by intentionally misrepresenting their protests against racial discrimination as attacks on the United States as a country.

Trump Engages in Selective Law Enforcement

The president has weaponized the power of the pardon as an opportunity for political gain and signaling.

His use of pardons to negate legal judgments against political allies, like Joe Arpaio and Dinesh D’Souza, represents a break from the norms of pardoning individuals as a form of corrective justice rather than erosion of the law.

Trump also claims that allies who break laws are treated “unfairly” when they face legal consequences for their actions.

This contrasts with his “law and order” rhetoric directed at immigrants, against whom he uses human rights violations and deportation as political weapons

Robert Reich: 15 warning signs of impending Trump tyranny

As tyrants take control of democracies, they typically:

1. Exaggerate their mandate to govern — claiming, for example, that they won an election by a landslide even after losing the popular vote.

2. Repeatedly claim massive voter fraud in the absence of any evidence, in order to restrict voting in subsequent elections.

3. Call anyone who opposes them “enemies.”

4. Turn the public against journalists or media outlets that criticize them, calling them “deceitful” and “scum.”

5. Hold few if any press conferences, preferring to communicate with the public directly through mass rallies and unfiltered statements.

6. Tell the public big lies, causing them to doubt the truth and to believe fictions that support the tyrants’ goals.

7. Blame economic stresses on immigrants or racial or religious minorities, and foment public bias and even violence against them.

8. Attribute acts of domestic violence to “enemies within,” and use such events as excuses to beef up internal security and limit civil liberties.

9. Threaten mass deportations, registries of religious minorities and refugees bans.

10. Seek to eliminate or reduce the influence of competing centers of power, such as labor unionsand opposition parties.

11. Appoint family members to high positions of authority.

12. Surround themselves with their own personal security force rather than a security detail accountable to the public.

13. Put generals into top civilian posts.

14. Make personal alliances with f... dictators.

15. Draw no distinction between personal property and public property, profiteering from their public office.

Consider yourself warned.

ROBERT REICH

Robert B. Reich is Chancellor's Professor of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley and Senior Fellow at the Blum Center for Developing Economies. He served as Secretary of Labor in the Clinton administration, for which Time Magazine named him one of the ten most effective cabinet secretaries of the twentieth century. He has written 15 books, including the best sellers "Aftershock", "The Work of Nations," and"Beyond Outrage," and, his most recent, "The Common Good." He is also a founding editor of the American Prospect

Are you sure this you posting Only? Your posting style seems different.

Anyway, it is a fact that for years, too many ‘unarmed’ Black men are being shot/murdered by racist or poorly trained cops. To dismiss that is denying it in order to avoid accepting that situation as fact. Secondly, so is using Black on Black crime, to downplay, justify, or belittling the truth of unarmed Blacks being murdered by poorly trained or racist cops.

Thirdly, using stats of white males being shot by cops, will not change the facts that for years, many unarmed, Black males are ‘in fact’ being shot/murdered by poorly, trained racist cops.

Yo dum it up, once again, denial of that situation by measuring/comparing the stats of others from other racial groups, being shot by cops, and using the excuse of Black on Black crime, to downplay it, still does not and will not, change the ‘fact’ that many racist or poorly trained cops, have and are killing Blacks, especially Black males. #FACT
