SCOTUS: Case Rulings Summer 2018

Tiss the Season for the US Supreme Court to issue rulings:

So maybe we can post them here as they come in and talk about how we think they should or will be ruled.

EDIT to list some of the big cases:

Gill v. Whitford and Benisek v. Lamone

These are 2 gerrymandering cases. The cases are to decided can a party draw maps to give their party a perceived advantage?

.

Janus v. AFSCME

Can you be FORCED to pay UNION fees even if you are not in one? I would have thought NOT... I think this case will be a union buster and I believe that is better for the workers--well for the good ones.

Carpenter v. United States

Huge civil liberties case! Can the government get your phone records without a warrant? (the real question is does it matter whose phone it is or rather who pays for it?)

Trump v. Hawaii

Travel ban case

South Dakota v. Wayfair

Can a state collect sales tax if that company has no physical presence in that state?

[Edited 6/4/18 10:50am]

Anyone for banning the AR15 must be on the side of the criminal as once banned only criminals will have them.

SCOUTS rules in favor of Cake Baker...

An early ruling has come out giving the Colorado Cake baker the win. A big win for religious freedom was ruled 7 to 2 in favor of the baker.

This is apparently a very narrow ruling and for now, only applies to this case. This goes even further than what I thought. I thought they would say "make the cake" but rule that it ends there--that is no special decorations or designs and no on-site services.

But that was not the meat (or cake) of one of the main reasons of the ruling. The court said that the state's The Civil Rights Commission was overly hostile.

A 7-2 ruling does indicate a narrow holding.

narrow means in scope. It only applies in this or under limited situations. Not in terms of how it was voted on.

an example of a broad ruling would be same-sex marriages.

In favor of SD: so now anyone that sales across state lines has pay that state's sales tax. This is good news for the likes of Amazon and bad for smaller retailers.

Thank you very much to the fat, disgusting, putrid, smelly, lazy, good-for-nothing, biscuit-eating, Marlboro-smoking, Pabst-drinking, booger-eating, snot-drinking, toe-jam-sniffing, cousin-marrying, Democrats of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania who were too upset that their stupid feelings were hurt and decided to REALLY SHOW HILLARY and not vote.

You SUCK.

Because YOU didn't vote, Donald Trump won your mosquito-infested states. Because YOU didn't vote, Donald Trump was able to get Neil Gorsuch on the USSC. Because YOU didn't vote, the USSC has dismantled at least three major components of the American economic and social system by a 5-4 vote each time. Guess who the 5th vote was? And there's more to come.

I hope you fat, disgusting, putrid, smelly, lazy, good-for-nothing, biscuit-eating, Marlboro-smoking, Pabst-drinking, booger-eating, snot-drinking, toe-jam-sniffing, cousin-marrying, Democrats of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania are happy. YOU REALLY SHOWED HILLARY, DIDN'T YOU?

You SUCK.

And we KNEW that going into the 2016 election. We KNEW that the deciding USSC justice was riding on it. And still, those fat, disgusting, putrid, smelly, lazy, good-for-nothing, biscuit-eating, Marlboro-smoking, Pabst-drinking, booger-eating, snot-drinking, toe-jam-sniffing, cousin-marrying Democrats of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania didn't vote.

JUSTICE ANTHONY KENNEDY ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT (but I am not sure when it becomes effective)

Thanks to those fat, disgusting, putrid, smelly, lazy, good-for-nothing, biscuit-eating, Marlboro-smoking, Pabst-drinking, booger-eating, snot-drinking, toe-jam-sniffing, cousin-marrying Democrats of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania who didn't vote in 2016, President Trump is going to get to appoint ANOTHER SUPREME COURT JUSTICE.

This trades a progressive justice for a...fascist, probably.

THE DEMOCRATS BETTER WIN THE SENATE THIS YEAR.

In the meantime, if you are a fat, disgusting, putrid, smelly, lazy, good-for-nothing, biscuit-eating, Marlboro-smoking, Pabst-drinking, booger-eating, snot-drinking, toe-jam-sniffing, cousin-marrying Democrats of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania that didn't vote in 2016, then

THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT.

Anybody who didn't vote (and I especially include the butt hurt Bernie Bros), or the ones who wasted a vote on a Third Party, can take at least partial blame for the disaster to our democracy, to our way of life, to civility and decency, that we are now witnessing

Musicslave

McConnell's gamble has paid off beyond his wildest dreams. Deny (Rob/Steal) one nomination and get two from your own party. I hated what he did to Pres. Obama at the time. And now trump gets to nominate Gorsuch 2.0. sad

this is great news, it's bad enough we pay taxes but to be forced to pay into a political faction is extortion.

In other words, that ruling is great for grifters. Considering we have the greatest grifter of all time as president, and people who support him support grifters, then I guess we shouldn't be surprised at the reception for this ruling among those who support grifting.

I agree with this ruling. As I have said non-us persons who have not been officially granted the privilege to be on US soil have no US Constitutional rights. Furthermore, as I have said, Islam is not just a religion or just an ethnicity, is sure as hell is not a race... but it is also a social-political movement. And ALL NATIONS damn sure have a right to control those aspects of ANYONE wishing to enter into their country.

yet the travel ban does not apply to countries that orange ego-pig has some buiness with, even though 15 of the 9/11 hijackers came from SA. the travel ban would NOT have prevented 9/11. let that sink in... lol

obviously anyone who actually thinks this is done for the security of Americans or that this could actually improve security, is just a naive dumbed down propaganda controlled fool nuts dunce lol
