Democrat Conor Lamb Wins Deep Red PA Special Election

In a yuuuuuuugggggge blow to our genius president and his ability to inspire voters, Democrat Conor Lamb has apparently won the special congressional election to replace disgraced adulterer Donald Tr......I mean, Tim Murphy. It appears Lamb's vote total is going to be around 500 - 700 more than Republican candidate Rick Saccone's.

Libertarian Drew Miller garnered 1,378 votes, almost all of which would have gone to Saccone if Miller hadn't run. While the GOP has spent the better part of the last 24 hours eating its own and blasting Saccone in every way possible (and he deserves it), the GOP got Nadered by Miller.

I hope you watched some of the coverage last night. It was riveting. We switched back and forth between Fox News and MSNBC. Both of them had spot-on analysis. It was very exciting from about 10:00 PM Eastern on.

This is what voting is all about! Never ever ever ever EVER think your vote doesn't matter. It damn sure DOES.

The tide is CERTAINLY changing. To wit:

-First of all, it was those fat, disgusting, chain-smoking, Real Housewives-watching, Cheetos-dust-covered slugs in Pennsylvania who DIDN'T vote in 2016 that gave us President Donald J. Trump. So those couch-sitting, mumu-wearing, Schlitz-drinking, Amish-hassling bozos owed us bigly

-Second, The GOP pulled out all its guns to win this district. Thanks to the afore-mentioned craft-beer-drinking, hipster-beard-having, cassette-player-using, non-voting doofuses, Trump won that district by 20 points in 2016. They thought this was a lock

-Third, they somehow nominated the most boring candidate in all of recorded history and realized their mistake early on. So they sent EVERYBODY to campaign for this guy - the genius president (twice); one of his sons; his daughter (I should have said "one of his daughters" but I forgot about the one they keep hidden); Kellyanne Conway; and lots of others. They all came to one little ol' district in order to fire up their base

-Fourth, the GOP Congressional Committee/other GOP organizations pumped in $10,000,000 to help their candidate. This was because: (1) they had to win this race in the worst way; and (2) their candidate had absolutely no ability to raise money on his own. Meanwhile, the Democratic candidate received approximately $0.00 from the national Demcratic party

-Fifth, winning this district was one of the reasons our genius president instituted his draconian tarrifs. And yet, not even the tarrifs, the tax cut, or the steel industry largess was enough to win. The GOP has got to be thinking, "What the actual EFF do we have to do?!?"

Sure, this district disappears in seven months. But Lamb will run in whatever district he gets drawn in and he will be running as a sitting Congressman. I'm not sure he'd actually be an incumbent; in fact, wouldn't it be ironic if the district gets redrawn in such a way as he has to run against a sitting Republican congressman?

All in all, it was a great night for the blues. Now, if only the national Democratic organization gets in the dang game next time, things could get really really interesting.

I watched last night. In fact, I was up WAY past my bedtime, hoping that the one district would follow through and get all those ballots counted. It made no sense to me that they had to put each ballot in an envelope, mail it somewhere, have them brought back to them, then take them out of the envelopes to put them in a machine. I was thinking there is something that could go very wrong with that - as in those original ballots, taken and destroyed, and other ballots put in their place reflecting whoever they wanted to win the election. I was very happy when they decided to go ahead and count the ballots instead of sending them out.

Proof that gerrymandering ain't all that. On either "side". We need free and fair elections. One person, one vote.

But seriously though, i really hope these recent Democratic victories are a indication of things to come. We will be in some serious crap if Republicans continue to control vast amounts of the country. Also i hope that Democrats are really paying attention to some of what it takes to win in some of those less progressive districts. IMHO, we gotta be more inclusive of people who are a little more right of center(along with the other things that we need to do). Another also, is that some of our long term leaders need to step aside. Its really time for some new blood within the democratic leadership.

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

The Dems are using this to float not promoting progressives.

Which Dems? Please elaborate. You tend to make these wet blanket statements when something good happens. Is that a Gemini thing?

The DCCC tried to discredit a progressive democrat by saying she dissed the rural parts of Texas. She basically said she prefers cities. There are many cities in Texas.

All sane people prefer cities.

Then there is the lying about Bernie.

Bill Maher criticized Lamb (and other Dems) who have distanced themselves from Nancy Pelosi. He says that too many Dems are buying into the false image of her created by the Right. Instead, we should celebrate her for shepherding some of the most progressive legislation America has seen and needed

Saw that nod . The part about Dems always wanting to "blend in" like a lizard on a leaf was funny. Dems and white women need to get it together. If we can't beat this catastrophe - wow.
