Absolutely and it's an embarrassment. He will just blame the media for something his son did.. That's always trump's ammo, because he knows his supporters will believe anything he says or tweets about. Just like how he conned them into voting for him. Lol. [Edited 7/12/17 3:59am]

Some former GOP Congressman from South Carolina was on the Lawrence O'Donnell show last night. He was one of the leaders that drafted the articles of impeachment against Bill Clinton. He said that if Hillary Clinton was president and fired the FBI director because he was investigating her, the GOP would already have written the Articles of Impeachment. He said they need to be working on impeaching Trump.

So what I think might happen is that if polling later this year shows the GOP is going to get smoked in the 2018 mid-terms, you might see a bunch of Republicans jump on the impeachment bandwagon if they think it will help their re-election chances.

That doesn't guarantee a Trump impeachment but it makes it more likely, IMO.

Agree, they will not do it becuase it is the right thing to do, they will only do it out of self preservation.

TrivialPursuit

Congressman Files First Articles Of Impeachment Against Trump: ‘Republicans Will Join The Impeachment Effort’

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) has introduced the first formal article of impeachment against President Donald Trump.

Mr. Sherman, who was joined by Congressman Al Green (D-TX) in filing the article, alleges the president committed obstruction of justice by firing former FBI Director James Comey amid agency investigations into Russian meddling in the US election.

“Filing Articles of Impeachment is the first step on a very long road,” Sherman’s statement reads. “But if the impulsive incompetency continues, then eventually—many, many months from now—Republicans will join the impeachment effort.”

The article would need 218 votes to pass the Republican-controlled chamber.

“I would hope that the Article, once submitted, would receive expeditious consideration by the Judiciary Committee. However, if it becomes clear that such consideration is not forthcoming, I (after consultation with colleagues and leadership) will make a privileged motion that the entire House of Representatives immediately debate the Article,” he wrote.

Read Rep. Sherman’s full statement below:

I am pleased that Congressman Al Green (D-TX) has joined me in filing Articles of Impeachment against Donald J. Trump. We now begin the effort to force the House Judiciary Committee to hold hearings on Obstruction of Justice and Russian interference in our election.

Recent disclosures by Donald Trump Jr. indicate that Trump’s campaign was eager to receive assistance from Russia. It now seems likely that the President had something to hide when he tried to curtail the investigation of National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and the wider Russian probe. I believe his conversations with, and subsequent firing of, FBI Director James Comey constitute Obstruction of Justice.

Every day Democrats, Republicans, and the entire world are shocked by the latest example of America’s amateur President. Ignorance accompanied by a refusal to learn. Lack of impulse control, accompanied by a refusal to have his staff control his impulses. We’re no longer surprised by any action, no matter how far below the dignity of the office—and no matter how dangerous to the country.

But the Constitution does not provide for the removal of a President for impulsive, ignorant incompetence. It does provide for the removal of a President for High Crimes and Misdemeanors.

As the investigations move forward, additional evidence supporting additional Articles of Impeachment may emerge. However, as to Obstruction of Justice, as defined in 18 U.S.C. § 1512 (b)(3), the evidence we have is sufficient to move forward now. And the national interest requires that we do so.

Introducing Articles of Impeachment will have two possible outcomes. First, I have slight hope it will inspire an ‘intervention’ in the White House. If Impeachment is real, if they actually see Articles, perhaps we will see incompetency replaced by care. Perhaps uncontrollable impulses will be controlled. And perhaps the danger our nation faces will be ameliorated.

Second, and more likely, filing Articles of Impeachment is the first step on a very long road. But if the impulsive incompetency continues, then eventually—many, many months from now—Republicans will join the impeachment effort.

I author Articles of Impeachment not to change our national policy. I served with Mike Pence in Congress for twelve years and I disagree with him on just about everything. I never dreamed I would author a measure that would put him in the White House. I am introducing Articles of Impeachment to begin a long process to protect our country from abuse of power, obstruction of justice, and impulsive, ignorant incompetence.”

"It's not what you know, it's what you can prove!" -- Alonzo Harris, 2001

Even with all of the belated disclosures and direct admissions made by the team, we have only probable cause at this point to investigate. Despite all the smoke, we have yet to arrive at the fire. That said, Fmr. Director Muller is just unpacking his boxes and crewing up. Congress is content to drag this out. So it may take a while to get to the heart of the matter.

That said, Congress is risking a steady torrent of bombshells that could sink the majorities in November 2018. These DT Jr. revelations are only the beginning.

But maybe this slow process will give us a chance to really digest, in full and deliberate detail, how we got here.

that is just something you made up to make you feel better about your beliefs being challenged. it is just a symptom of insecurity in your point of view. you can not refute what I say so you just make up reasons why I must be wrong. I never fall in line and I never go by any so called talking points... i go my own way. the cute part is how some really lose their stuff... haha... one goes back to a typo a made years ago and uses something i never said and one true mistake to dog me... it is funny... but anyway I do see you did not single me out here but you really ought to stop making up stuff...

They're going to get away with all of it. The lessons of Nixon have been learned, if not by as someone as clueless, as ego-manical and as baffled as our manchild idiot of a president, then certainly by those empowering him. It's all a game and WE all lose.

For instance, name the last rich white guy to ever do any serious jail time. Madhoff maybe? Still just a half way house and his investors were never repaid. Black guy or a hispanic chick snatches a purse or a gold chain? Gets caught with a few rocks or Oxy's? Mandatory minimum in Hard Prison. Some old white prick steals millions from old ladies retirement accounts and defrauds investors? They get promoted to a presidential cabinet. Madhoff stole MILLIONS of dollars. Millions.

Anyone go to jail for what happened in 2008? Investment fraud and gambling with other people's hard earned money? Motherfuckers should have been frog marched out of their swanky bank offices and in thier expensive 3 piece suits on national TV.

Trump won't be impeached.

There's too much at stake, too much to lose and the only ones that can do anything about it lack the desire or the will and are, worse, most likely in on it. Russian money extends to the entire GOP, and probably more than a few Democrats as well. The ones that can enforce the law are dirty themselves and don't wish to be exposed for whatever shady shit they're up to. Even Bernie Sanders is caught up in what looks to be a lot of shad shit. In short, there's nothing much to be gained by impaching Trump except perhaps tarnishing the Republican brand in the short term and driving news ratings/selling advertising. But the GOP brand is already neck deep in bullshit and roughly 40% of the country doesn't care , only wants to piss off liberals, feel constantly presecuted and want to usher in a Christian Theocratic Government as they think the Founding Fathers Intended.

Scary, strange times we live in.

Donald Trump latest approval rating and impeachment odds

That would mean something if impeachment was based on approval ratings, but it's not. He has to be found in some kind of criminal act, just like Nixon was, outside of that we got him until his term ends, period.

Not true. He can be impeached for any reason whatsoever if a majority in Congress wants to do it. Look it up. Impeachment just means that he's being called to testify about things that people think need to be answered. It's not what people think it is (which is accusing the President of a crime or magically removing from him from office).

Nixon was never charged with nor accused of a crime.

The reason we have the electoral college is, in large part, so that slave owning states could maintain disporpotionate representation after the Civil War. Look, I'm not bitching about it and there are other reasons for the EC system which I'm still largely still in favor of. I voted for Hillary and she lost. I accept it and she ran a shitty, terrible campaign and lacks the coursage of her convictions - if she ever had any. I voted for Gore and he lost. Now, having said that, can you accept and own this shitshow of an adminstration?

Also, I can't help but wonder what Republicans might say about the EC system if Gore and Hillary had won their repsective elections with less of the popular vote and there was strong evidence of collusion with foreign governments. I have a funny feeling your particular song might have rather different lyrics.

It's not all about "sides", it's about the collective good; assuming, that is, that you care about those sorts of things and view yourself as part of a collective society that wants to function, which I suspect you don't based on the overall "fuck everybody/suck it, libtards" tone of your posts over the years. But, hey, as long as liberals are pissed off and poor people die in the streets due to lack of healthcare access, I assume that's good enough for you. "Fuck you, Got Mine" and all that.

the basis for impeachment are “treason, bribery, and other high crimes and misdemeanors.” Not just any reason Congress can cook up.

Now you have an almost good point that it is not a criminal trial...but there has to be some crime or violation of a law. Also, Trump would be exempt from many possible high crimes.

I do not know why you mention Nixon? He was not impeached or removed from office, but only because he resigned before the articles of such could be voted on...so YES he was accused of by articles of impeachment of obstruction of justice...a crime. But he was accused.

He would have been charged if not for Ford giving him a pardon.

So your facts are a little off... but they are common mistakes.
