Ice Cube should shut up.

He's not exactly a good role model on race:

https://genius.com/Ice-cu...rea-lyrics

Not only do those lyrics stink they are racist. If they are Chinese how would they be Korean? Dumb ass.

Didn't Ice Cube have a song attacking white women called "Cave Bitch" ? Not sure I want him as a spokesman on race issues...

Cube was all STANK on Real Time...He had the nerve to say that sometimes Bill acts like a Redneck spewing Shit...Bill has mimicked Rednecks and different people for decades, but he does not have a Redneck persona..Cube got that part all wrong..

I believe Cube when he said he watches the show but he does not watch it faithfully....

The episode was good and a teachable moment...I Love Bill and I don't care about him using the N word on TV or in stand-up...If I did not like him I probably would not give him a pass...That's a Fact..

There are some brilliant social analysts amongst rappers, I wouldn't count Ice Cube as one of them. Anyway, Maher and white people in general are just too damn liberal with how they run their mouths. It isn't just him, it's most of them, they have that arrogant shit where they say whatever they want. Well, some of us other peoples grew up getting our ass beat for doing that so we don't do it withouth thinking. White people, whether it's a movie or a cartoon making fun of other people will have to learn that lesson the hard way. You know, they didn't learn when they was children so you got 50 year old white men just saying whatever they feel like then they wonder why shit is getting hacked and they get fired. Hard to change grown folks ways. Many times I wanted to slap the shit out of some smartass whiteboy but we can't do those things.

Did not watch it because of it's proximity to the whole Bill saying the "N" word controversy, and the "importance" that's being placed on that versus all the other things going on regarding the black community. I'm not sure if this is explotation for ratings or not but if it quacks looks, quack, smells like a duck, it's most likely a duck. Thus far from this thread, I didn't miss anything.

And wasn't there a song called "Black Korea" ? Seems like a bastion of racial tolerance and peaceful co-existance rolleyes I'm sorry, but HE should not be lecturing Bill Maher after writing shit like this

Twenty D Energizers."
"Twenty see Energizer?"
"D not see D."
"be Energizer?"
"D motherfucker D! Learn to speak english first alright? D!"
"How many you say?"
"Twenty motherfucker twenty."
"Honey..."
"Mother fuck you!"

Everytime I want to go get a fuckin brew
I gotta go down to the store with the two
oriental one-penny countin motherfuckers
that make a nigga made enough to cause a little ruckus
Thinkin every brother in the world's out to take
So they watch every damn move that I make
They hope I don't pull out a gat and try to rob
they funky little store, but bitch, I got a job
("Look you little Chinese motherfucker
I ain't tryin to steal none of yo' shit, leave me alone!"
"Mother-fuck you!")
Yo yo, check it out
So don't follow me, up and down your market
Or your little chop suey ass'll be a target
of the nationwide boycott
Juice with the people, that's what the boy got
So pay respect to the black fist
or we'll burn your store, right down to a crisp
And then we'll see ya!
Cause you can't turn the ghetto - into Black Korea

Yup. Not the guy to lecture another, at least not without acknowledging his own past "mistakes".

However, I don't agree with what 2freaky said above, that he should "shut up". He has every right to an opinion as anyone else. Just sayin' that his opinion should be framed in the reality of where he's coming from...

WTF you talking about, "my side"?

I don't have a "side" other than I don't think ANYBODY should be censored and I do think EVERYBODY should be responsible for what they do or say.

What is your fascination with "sides" and seeing everybody that ever disagrees with you as some kind of enemy?

It's anger and frustration that leads to hatred. This song was pointing out the fact that Koreans open liqour stores on every corner in the hood, make money off of the community, then treat brothas like shit when they walk thru the door. Think "Do the Right Thing"...Italian owns a pizza shop in a black neighborhood, makes the majority of his money off of black folks, but shows little or no respect to his clientele....that's what led to the riot (and the death of Radio Raheem!!!).

-

Same with "Fuck Tha Police"...the problem is that it's very hard to see thru the bigotry of the lyrics, but us west coast niggas get it fa sho! As for what he said to Bill Maher about "that's our word now"...I can't argue with him (I have NO PROBLEM with the word when WE use it, as much of a double standard as it is), but I wish he wouldhave told Maher "Your ancestors ruined it for you, so no...you dont have a pass!" I know this is idiotic to some, but it is what it is. When youre raised in the hood, you have a different perspective on things...there is a time and a place for everything...and there is never a time for white folks to use the term NIGGER. EVER.

Make it so, Number One...

Didn't forget her at all. That was a miscarriage of justice. Still don't know if racial slurs are the best thing to put in a song as protest.

I know it's only a song. Just found it ironic that he of all people would lecture Bill Maher over the use of the so called "N word"... I don't think of Mr. Cube as a very deep or sophisticated thinker

"I do fuck you!"

EVER.

If I'm disrespected in a store or restaurant, I don't patronise that business anymore. And I make sure to tell everyone I know to boycott that business. It makes no sense to continue to shop at a place that treats you second-class. We do have a choice, like "buying black".

And don't forget this lovely one as well. "Cave Bitch" Yep, that Ice Cube is a very nuanced thinker, and so open minded :

Give me a black goddess sister I can't resist her. No stringy haired, blonde
hair, blue eyed, pale skinned buttermilk complexion. Grafted, recessive,
depressive, ironing board backside straight up and straight down. No
frills, no thrills, Miss six o'clock, subject to have the itch, mutanoid,
caucazoid, white cave bitch...

Ease back white bitch, I don't play that
Just because I got on my L.A. hat
Stalkin' walking in my big black boots
Is my jingle, now you want Mandingo
Big, black and handsome
I should hold your devil ass for ransome
Sorta like Patty Herst, but I'll burst first bitch
And you know what's worse
I'm coming from the land where the choppers roam
So phuck you bitch and your Coppertone
Stringy hair - no derrier - frontin' and fakin' with your silicone pair
Do I wanna phuck? Not hardly
That's kinda like Barbie phuckin' Bob Marley
It ain't gonna happen, I keep rappin'
Muthaphuck Teniell, but see I'm the Captain of this ship
And I'm true to the game
Ya all look the same
Standin' by my backstage door, hopin' that'll switch
Spread out you little cave bitch

Why everytime we get famous
You wanna play us like Andy and Amos?
The devil sent you to try and tame us
But you can't tame me, with no bitch named Amy
Lookin' for the dark meat
But ho, I ain't tryin' to go out like Barkely
Cuz everytime I turn on the TV
I see several brothers with she-devils
Smilin' cuz you out on a date
But sooner or later, the bitch'll yell rape
Soon as daddy found out you a jigaboo
He'll kill like he did Emmitt Till
Yah, he tried to kick bass
But the bitch probably threw it in his face
Sargent Bale ain't nothin' but a trick
Nasty as hell, stanky little cave bitch

Now don't think that I hate you
Cuz I won't date you, bitch I gotta stay true
You can be a fan, but don't expand
And try to get my dick in your hand
You better run to the minute man
Pale as snow, so act like y'know
Cuz if I slap it, flip it, and rub it like that
Yeah, it gotta be black
Plus yo ass too flat
I need a butt big enough that can clap
Rat-a-tat-tat
You can't get mine ho
I'd rather phuck an albino
Atleast I know, she's comin' from the Nubian
And not the Ku Klux Klan that you be in
And I don't give a fuck if your family is rich
You're still a little cave bitch

I totally agree with that. It just seems like he's fighting anti-Black racism and stereotypes with anti-Asian racism and stereotypes. I'm not going to say that I personally never said harsh things in anger...but I never put it out in public either

You cannot blame the victims for the foolishness of people who have zero customer service skills and total disrespect for the community.

Besides let us not live in La La land nothing is going to happen to Bill he is the right color to get away with his remarks.

Again, I see your point. I just find fighting anti-Black racism with anti-Asian racism to be a bit counter-productive , in the vast scheme of things. And something like "Cave Bitch" is just indefensible, racist, sexist, and just plain stupid
