http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/deputy-attorney-general-privately-acknowledges-recuse-russia-probe/story?id=48080253

-

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein acknowledges he may need to recuse himself from Russia probe, sources say

The senior Justice Department official with ultimate authority over the special counsel's probe of Russia's alleged meddling in the 2016 election has privately acknowledged to colleagues that he may have to recuse himself from the matter, which he took charge of only after Attorney General Jeff Sessions' own recusal, sources tell ABC News.

-

Those private remarks from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein are significant because they reflect the widening nature of the federal probe, which now includes a preliminary inquiry into whether President Donald Trump attempted to obstruct justice when he allegedly tried to curtail the probe and then fired James Comey as FBI director.

-

Rosenstein, who authored an extensive and publicly-released memorandum recommending Comey's firing, raised the possibility of his recusal during a recent meeting with Associate Attorney General Rachel Brand, the Justice Department's new third-in-command, according to sources.

-

Although Rosenstein appointed a special counsel to lead the federal probe, he still makes the final decisions about resources, personnel and -- if necessary -- any prosecutions.

-

In the recent meeting with Brand, Rosenstein told her that if he were to recuse himself, she would have to step in and take over those responsibilities. She was sworn-in little more than a month ago.

45 finds it bothersome that Comey is "good friends" with Mueller.

I find Jared and Ivanka in the WH BOTHERSOME.

There is definitely game playing going on. I tend to believe Comey over Trump re Trump asking him to drop the investigation (in so many words).

But Comey knew those HRC emails he released right before the election were duplicates. What about that? My guess is that Comey and Trump were getting along until Trump tried to end the Russia investigation completely which stepped on Comey's FBI toes.

That I do not understand at all. What was his point?

But here's something... when Trump said he did not tape hs conversation(s) with Comey and said his tweet about said tapes was meant to keep Comey honest. Comey was a witness, was he trying to influence a witness? Is *that* legal?

Probably not. But now is it he said/he said? Confusing. Are Comey's notes worth anything?

Why do his supporters assume because there hasn't been any evidence made public yet of him colluding with Russia that there isn't any?

-

You do know that they're not done investigating right?

Yep!

WP reported yesterday that Flynn was mixed up in the whole HC email/Russian hacking while he was actively employed by the Trump Campaign... hmmm could this be why he wanted immunity?

If there is evidence... it will come out.l if there isn't then it's a wash - but for now THERE IS AN ACTIVE INVESTIGATION.

If there was any solid evidence, don't you think it would've been leaked by now?
This has been going on for 6 months and there's plenty of people who dislike Trump. It seems they're fishing around to create a narrative connection from coincidences.

I think the Van Jones off the cuff statement is a wake up slap to everyone. It really is a "nothing burger", that media companies are making big advertising bucks off of, and it's time people got back to debating issues and policies.

Right, I guess we should just get back to the business of investigating Hillary Clinton, then. 9 investigations and a couple of years wasn't enough. Investigations can't possibly take longer than 6 months. And as far as getting back to debating issues and policies, too bad the orange asshole knows nothing about either of these. Lock him up.
