Disgusting violence erupts after UFC match.

This is shameful stuff, what do you expect with all that male violence:

Take his belt away.

Violence erupts after an event that glorifies violence. Shocking.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

mma is a legitimate sport

unfortunately there are some fools who are a part of it

and at the end of the day, with the ufc, it all comes down to money

it's a shame... if it was all carried out with the respect that is generally associated with many of the martial arts, it would be far better for the sport imo... unfortunately though, with today's society, they're giving the people what they want

I just seen the highlights. I was half expecting Stone Cold Steve Austin to run in and beat up everybody. And when an actual sport is made to look more ridiculous than the WWF, which is supposed to be ridiculous, then you know things are bad. I'm sure Dana White secretly loves the publicity though.

Connor McGregor deserved everything he got, and then some. His behavior and comments leading up to the match were absolutely horrible.

When the UFC started and was banned from most places, I watched it on Pay Per View. I then understood, it's brutal to watch a guy get his face bashed in with an elbow but Romans used to watch lions eat people so to each their own.

Watching clips from this fight and seeing the blood splatter on the mat while a guy is taking hits to the face reminded me why I still can't get into this "sport".

Violence erupting after the match? Really? That's shocking... lol

Well, this was not representative of the sport in general. There's much more of this:

.

There might be blood here and there but so what? You could argue that long-term, boxing is worse because of the consistant blows to the head.

Hey loudmouth, shut the fuck up, right?

In terms of injuries, professional wrestling is more dangerous. And that's not even a sport. It's a scripted "reality" show, at best.

The blood/violence aspect of MMA and boxing is the main draw.

Connor needs to shoulder some blame for moving his trash talk from fight-hype to personal attacks.

Dana White needs to shoulder some blame for allowing the fight to be hyped in a disrespectful way.

And Khabib needs to take the biggest slice of blame for behaving like a classless street punk.

The UFC really should know better. They've been battling for years to get the sport of MMA recognised as a legit sport, but shit like this sets them back all over again. The mightly dollar wins out over everything though, and they know this sort of controversy puts bums on seats and makes money. Despite Dana saying how 'disgusting' the post fight scenes were, expect Dana to use footage of said scenes to hype the rematch all the way to the bank.

People complaining about violence breaking out at a UFC event reminds me of the line "You can't fight in here, this is the War Room" from Dr Strangelove.

For many, yes. And while I can't completely deny that it isn't a draw for me as well (and I might be the least aggressive guy you'll ever meet lol ), to me it's really about the possibilites of what might happen during a fight because of the many techniques... a striker might dominate all of the rounds, only to be caught in a choke in the last 30 seconds. Someone might be totally dominated on the ground, but make it through the round and then catches the opponent with something in the last round.

When MMA first hit, I thought it was the dumbest, most barbaric thing I'd ever heard of. But then I watched some of it (many years later, I admit) and what struck me more than anything was the respect the two fighters almost always show each other after the match.

Almost always, LOL.

yep

i'd like to see brian ortega win the featherweight belt and then bump up to lightweight to fight khabib... from a technical perspective it's a fascinating matchup imo
