Henry Cavill OUT as Superman Amid WB's DC Universe Shake-Up

They are so far behind Marvel it's pathetic. They should just stick to TV and animated films, lol.

The headline says he's out but the article says no decision has been made. My clickbait sense is tingling.

The DCEU has been just short of a disaster so far. Man of Steel was OK but kind of boring. Which is something a Superman movie should never be. Batman Vs Superman was saved by the Extended Cut which added some much needed coherence to the plot of the cinematic release but even then, the only real highlight was Ben Affleck as Batman. And he was a MAJOR highlight. Shame about Doomsday and Lex Luthor. They were awful. Suicide Squad was a complete write off. Nothing salvageable there. Jared Leto might have been a decent Joker but his part was cut to a nonsensical cameo. Next came Wonder Woman and for the first 3 quarters of the movie, things were looking up for the DCEU. But then everything turned CGI, really bad CGI, at that. Then we got the Justice League. In fact, we got 2 Justice Leagues. In one movie. Either Joss Whedon or Zack Snyder's version would have been interesting. Instead, we got both of them slapped together with even worse CGI than usual for the DCEU, and that's saying a lot, and the end result was a mess.

The only things they've gotten right about the DCEU so far is the main cast. Henry Cavill can be a good Superman with the right material, Gal Gadot is a great Wonder Woman and Ben Affleck is the best live action Batman since Michael Keaton. All Warner Bros need to do is hire the writers of the Batman Animated Series to write a movie worthy of these characters and that would be enough to get things back on track.

Bring back Brandon Routh. Wonder Woman is the strong entry for the DC movies. Yes the animated movies are better. The TV shows on the CW are becoming more PC than DC. Gotham is the best of the DC (Yes Emma I will have threads up for Gotham when it comes out in 2019). The Aquaman looks pretty good but I just don't like Jason Moana in it so I'm passing on seeing it.

Coincidently, I talked to a Japanese businessman lasr week who said his son was working in animation for Aquaman and had worked on the Black Panther movie...

There's no them...there's only us...

I really like Henry as Superman. I think he puts kind of a darkside to him, where others stay in the boring-always-the-good-boi superman. He is sexy ass hell too! Just give him a good movie! lol

After watching the latest Mission Impossible film, I think Henry Cavill would make a perfect James Bond nod

Agree 100%. Cavill, Affleck & Gadot are perfect for the roles. I liked the dark edge to MoS. It has the best battle scenes of any Superman film (especially the fight with Faora & Nam-Ek).

I really liked Brandon Routh as Superman. He was basically playing the Christopher Reeve version, which is probably why I liked him so much, but I think his time as Superman is up. I still believe Henry Cavill can be good if he's given the right material.

I don't like what I've seen from the "Arrowverse" shows. They should have just continued with spin offs set in the Smallville universe using the same cast. They already had good versions of the Green Arrow, The Flash, Aquaman, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, Supergirl and Superman. Had they incorporated Gotham into the Smallville universe you've got the setup of a really good Justice League crossover episode.

To each their own, but I really did like Superman Returns. I liked it better than Man of Steel. I think Routh was great in the role (very underated) and I liked Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor. I would have love to see more movies with Routh in the role. Don't get me wrong I like Henry Cavill as superman as well but I didn't like how they used him in the movies.

Kevin Spacey was brilliant as Lex Luthor. I don't care what he did, I'd much rather have him back than Jesse Eisenberg.

Having said that, I'd actually like to see John Shea play Lex Luthor in a Superman movie. He was one of the many highlights from the 90s Dean Cain series.

I think they had Impulse and not the Flash, didn't care for that actor or impulse. Cyborg was good though hated that all mechanical parts were on the inside. Zatanna was also well casted. Booster Gold was good but hated the kid they got for blue bettle, that guy couldn't act sucked big time.

Hated the way black canary looked in it. Lois Lane was to spunky for me.

Ok so fans have been waiting forever for a Justice League. So what do they do, they "Kill" off Superman in Batman V Superman. But hey don't worry Superman is not really dead we are bringing him back to life in Justice League. Ok fans sorry to have wasted your time with those last 2 movies. Ok Superman is alive and now we can focus on making a Justice League movie once again. Oh wait sorry everybody but the actor doesn't want/can't to be in the next movie. Uh oh, ummmm, luckily Hollywood has the famous reboot button. Yeah we are going tp press it now. Just forget everything with we did with Henry Cavill rolleyes

If "Steve Buchemi" is anything like Steve Buscemi, then I actually think he could make for a decent Carmine Falcone.

That what was wrong with it. What makes Superman/Batman relationship interesting is Superman being the boy scout and Batman the "bad boy" (the ying and yang). Now a days they want to make everybody dark and moody (the anti-hero) which to me I find very boring bored bored

I agree with that. Too many movies try to go the moody, gritty route and that's all well and good with characters like Batman, who, when you think about it, he's not really a good guy himself, but for Superman, he's supposed to represent hope, truth, justice, all the good stuff. His reason for becoming a hero isn't because his parents were killed. He's a hero because he's come from a loving home in Smallville and feels like it's his duty to use his powers to help those in need. The original Christopher Reeve movie is a perfect example of a Superman origin story done right. Another great example is the first episode of the Dean Cain series. And I'm not just saying that because I'm biased towards Dean Cain. I mean, I AM biased towards Dean Cain but even if I wasn't, I still think that the first episode, which was feature length, is the best live action Superman story since Richard Donner's Superman 2.

I saw Supergirl when I was very young. Maybe about 3 or 4. We had it on video. I always remember liking it. Then I seen it years later and was bitterly disappointed. Not just with the movie but with myself for not having better taste as a child.
