Why Didn't "Reign" Catch On With Girls? I hate to use this term but it's so delicious! Reign is heavy on the froth, and it's all the more better that way. In earlier seasons the action balanced the scales between romance and political manuevering, but they've really upped the ante with this last and final season, with an endless supply of queens wreaking havoc over the politcal landscape. I know it's not historically accurate in any way but that's beside the point. For a show that was supposed to be "Gossip Girl" meets "Game Of Thrones" what more could you ask for. To me it beats "Thrones". Thrones is dreary. Reign is fun and exciting. Ratings are in the toilet, and I will never understand why it didn't click with viewers. Great scenery. Great costumes. Even great acting. And with the queens being front and center scheming for prominance I'm surprised it didn't win over girls. What happened?

I watched Reign on hulu for awhile. But then when the episodes came in spits and sputters, I quit watching it. I loved it and I'm an old woman!! No matter your age, pursue your dreams so that you will LIVE.

Had 4 seasons. Many good shows have had less like Star Trek

Can't speak for the teens of today but I didn't even bother with something that's ficticious history, even though it "looked" great. And someone said is lasted 4 seasons which means it'll get syndicated. “Do I dare Disturb the universe?”

Also it maybe the fact it has been on Friday's on the CW. Friday's has been the CW weakest night of the week, it's where shows going off the air are placed like the Vampire Diaries. Fridays could be a weak night for the CW because younger audiences may be watching Grimm or Sleepy Hollow instead.

> Just jump right in to season 4. I missed the second half of season 3 because of scheduling nonsense and it doesn't feel like I've missed much because it's THAT kind of show!

I know it lasted four seasons. But it never caught on the way they'd hoped. It never became THAT show like "Gossip Girl". I think, even though the show is light, that once they went into the- this throne that throne I have to marry this person to secure this position- talk it kinda lost the kiddies. There's a lot of scheming for power, which I thought would catch on but... Four seasons.

Of all the Networks The CW is good about letting shows live longer and have an ending

> Good point. It might get discovered in streaming. I keep forgetting about this stuff I'm so hopelessly old school.

First couple of seasons had decent ratings (for CW, that is), but once they started changing the air dates, I think thats when they lost folks. It's a guilty pleasure of mine, wifey loves it, and we are sad to see it go. Only 13 more nights with Queen Catherine... [Edited 2/27/17 18:28pm] Make it so, Number One...

There is too much on and that's why there are very, very few hits. There were 455 scripted shows on American television in 2016 between the networks, cable, premium cable and streaming services. It forces people to be too selective. I was watching a watchmojo countdown of the 10 most anticipated new series of 2017 on youtube and the comments were all "We don't give a shit, give us Game of Thrones season 7." I don't have a number for reality shows but there are at least 1.5 times as many. Young people also seem to prefer looking at their phones to paying attention to a tv show. It may not seem that way with all the live-tweeting but they are a small group.

When it comes to sci-fi shows I've noticed the 3 big networks (ABC/NBC/CBS) tend to give them half seasons. ABC's V (2009 Series) ran for two seasons with a total of 22 episodes. ABC Ressurrection 2 seasons with a total of 22 episodes as well. NBC Timeless only given 16 episodes. CW also gives the 100 & IZombie half seasons as well.

CW shows have an exclusive streaming deal with Netflix who pays more for shows that have a conclusion.

CBS's Lucky 7 ended after only two episodes. It's too bad all shows should close with an appropriate end.

I don't know if it ended because of ratings or issues the lead actor is known for though. “Do I dare Disturb the universe?”
